As naive as certain sensibilities were, I still miss the 60’s hope for a better world. Because this world sure isn’t it. At the time, while I enjoyed this song, I didn’t appreciate it as much as I do now. So, I post this video to remind us all, during this very disturbed time in my country, of how far off course we’ve gotten. I am Everyday People. Yeah, yeah. And, it’s my birthday.
Thanks for sharing!!!! I found myself reliving moments of 70's juxtaposed with moments up to the present -- made me smile . And I certainly remember listening to this song as well as those from E,W & F!! One has to remember that every era/generation has had its issues and we have come out of it smarter and stronger as a People. AND - Sir, have a fantastic Happy Birthday!!
It's easy to forget, because their fall was as rapid as their rise, but S&TFS were as big as any band in the world for a couple of years, and they were tremendously influential.
Happy birthday and here is to a better future. Just remember, things could always be worse. I’m living proof, had to escape my country at the age of 10 during massive civil unrest. Images of the capital last week remind me of my childhood. God help us all.
Boom sha ka la ka, right on Brother-man! "Take me higher" is still required at all weddings and reunions.
I remember a member of another board taking a young communist to school. He told the boy that if the peoples utopia had been so great he wouldn't have strapped his self to the frame of a truck for a twelve hour ferry trip in the dead of winter to leave it behind.
Sly and his entourage were also extremely dangerous people. I was told quite a few stories by a session musician who played from time to time at Sly's very popular recording studio.
If I had a nickle for every time I sang, nay screamed they lyric, "hot fun in the summertime," I'd had a shitton of nickles.
