😁
Ok ok - the answer is 5 then!

seriously. I like 2 nice ones and a few beaters. That does it for me. I don’t count a 150 quid watch in the same way I count a 12 grand one.

Every watch counts 😉

I had about 1/2 dozen inexpensive watches I picked up as a teen- college, Gruen bumpers, and Elgin, a Swiss Army, which was my daily, and my father’s 18k Baum & Mercier which was my nicest watch (for special occasions). I got my GMT and Speedy in my late 20’s (they were cheap then) and lived with those for a while, added a Navitimer and a Tag- and that was all for years. Then the bug bit.... I was a 2 watch guy for a long time.

Great posts, information and feedback.
I made my first move on the watch quantity and sold one of my other brand watches, I advertised on Facebook market and a guy reached out to me and met me in my local bank yesterday to do the transition. So one watch down.
I have decided to let the Tin Tin go next, I will have to investigate the best place to advertise, take some photos and see what I get offered for it.
Thanks all

I would keep the Tin Tin and sell the Great White.

Thanks for the feedback, I have been going back and forth often and I keep coming back to sell the TIN TIN. Only after I sell will i know if it’s the right decision ... time will tell.

I like to wear my watches - so too many is when you can’t wear every piece at least once every 2-3 weeks. Now I’ve changed watches twice a day, so technically that means 42 watches for me? 😗

In terms of too many from one brand? Never an issue with me. I have an 8 capacity watchbox and I won't go over that number just to keep me from going overboard. But if I like 8 Omegas the most, I'd be fine with that.

Started with modern for a long time but later got hit by vintage and because of some amazing collectors on this forum got into military watches so last 3 years have been busy finding some great timepieces. I still can’t figure out what is a good number but it’s been a great experience for sure.

I share the view that there is not a right number. It is subject to each individual’s preference and perspective. I would add, however, that it is not just about “wearing” watches. Just like with art, there is tremendous value brought by collectors and the collecting community generally. They preserve, repair, and restore timepieces and, through the process, gain and share knowledge about these anachronistic articles of obsession and their history. They also play a critical role in driving the value of both vintage pieces and timepieces generally. This is all to say that I deeply appreciate and applaud those that hold collections (large and small), and those that specialize in a particular niche (whether their pieces are daily-wearers or safe queens, never seeing the light of day - let alone the companionship of a wrist). The knowledge they develop and share on this forum assists us all - as we all spend our time and resources on this unnecessary, but tremendous rewarding, journey.... M
