...feels bad seeing most of them sitting in a box for months on end.

stop feeling bad while seeing your watches idling in a cold box! we have a group of volunteers around here that will borrow your watches to keep them in a regular wrist rotation...this community service is complementary, you just pay for shipping and insurance...and we'll gladly post lots of pics here 😀

Wow, that is very kind indeed! Feeling terribly weak at the moment, not sure I can lift any of them and take them to post office...I’ll certainly let you know if I feel better though!

I’m trying to reduce quantity and improve quality. I really like the idea of seven.

The problem with quality and the usual “condition condition condition” advice is that, when they are perfect, you can’t really wear them...!

That’s what beaters are for. And beaters don’t count towards your total number of watches owned. That is the official Swiss rule dating back to the 1700’s.

I like that rule! I don't have 7 watches, I have 4.

I need some more...

Lol, excellent rule

Although I had a Patek Nautilus that got gouged by this part of my front door in its first day of life, so I can’t take my nice watches anywhere if I want to maintain condition!

It's a tricky question. Do you collect to wear or collect to invest. Is your collection heavily weighted in one direction , or do you also buy oddities and unusual watches/movements? I can see a sell off coming in the distant future where I have a 7-12 or so of wearer/ keepers. Until then I'm trying to become choosier.....but 2 Euro/pound working decent Swiss mechanical watches at car boot sales are always hard for me to walk away from.

Too many is when you need to build an addition to your house to hold them all.

i’d like to blame all you hoarders for the difficulty in trying to find a watch in decent condition to add to my 1 watch “collection”. 😜

I only hoard beaters.
