C'mon. Can the mods please shut down this thread?

What a ridiculous question.

The answer of course only comes when you draw your last breath.

THIS!!

What good is money in the bank when you die!

I鈥檇 like great watch(es) on my wrist(s) when I die instead

On serious note,
Once I had 12 watches....

Now down to 7 watches, 7 important watches
AND TRIED SO HARD TO KEEP MY COLLECTION SMALL... SO HARD!!
I believe lots of OF member can relate 馃榿

Very fun posts/replies, not much to add on joke side, so I will do my usual boring long-winded response馃檮

I think this can be broken down to two major categories:

Constant collection growth
For hoarder / accumulator types, the only limit I believe is physical storage space or eventually cost and stress of maintenance...for this sort of collector there is pleasure in constantly increasing the collection over time. Personal financial annual budget (wife / family induced or not) and mean value of acquired timepieces will determine the rate of collection growth.

"Usage limited"collection
If you adopt a personal goal of having to wear all the watches in your collection, the min. frequency of wear / usage will be the limiting factor. There will always be of course a new watch be it vintage or modern that you will desire in the future. So the "usage limited" collector will eventually adopt a 1 out 1 in rule as he reaches his "usage" limit.

Personally I am currently on eleven watches and will reach twelve in 2018, and my rate of collection adoption has now slowed from 2/3 per year to one per year. For my collection my min frequency of wear is about a week every two months, excluding "dress" watches where my tolerance is higher to approx. a week every six months.

I really can't see myself going beyond 15 watches, but I am sure there are many here on the OF that are laughing right now at the rather ridiculous "certainty" of my statement.馃榿

The problem I have is deciding which one of my watches gets the chop for a new purchase........bit like one parachute between 2 kids on a crashing plane!!! As a result none have been sold yet but my 'want' list is growing

Had to have a week off watches a few weeks ago after buying a gold18k Zenith a week before my Speedy Tuesday.

I bought 3 new Spyderco knives 馃う馃う the first day not looking at watches

At some point only looking at watches will create you a sense of nausea. That is the moment to stop.
I am not there yet 馃槣

Never.........endless pit of cost and satisfaction. Just when you have your latest buy on your wrist you start looking again.
