Gotta admit I only have one solar watch. My steal your Seiko. I was leaving it in my watchbox finally hit an issue couldn’t get it past 50%charge. It got worse went to 0 and was appearing fubar. Went to the seiko website ran all the resets recommended one finally worked I left it out on my night table it’s now getting full 100% charge and as accurate as if no issue ever happened.

So do I charge it, pull the crown and keep it in a box or is this one best left out exposed to some light? I mean once it’s good you don’t have to worry for months but in rotation it’s kinda easy to forget about. I offered this one to young fellow but he thinks all my watches are too valuable he doesn’t want to hurt it. I tried to explain he’d be doing me a favor wearing it when I’m not but I get it he’s only 12 he probably thinks it’s high value no matter what I say. He’s not into watches yet.

Anyway I had no clue I messed up the watch. It’s good now, user error. Should I just leave this on my nightstand? I don’t like to do that with watches but if it’s just one to keep it charged I can deal. What the hec am I missing

I just set up something in my calendar, say every three months, to put them in a suitable sunlight spot for a few hours to get a full charge.
Most have a sleep mode so if stored and no changes to lighting etc they stop the hands from moving, only the chip consumes energy.

You mention sleep more. Makes perfect sense. I gotta admit I didn’t read much until I hit the issue. Probably not smart it being my first and only solar. I do know I had every opportunity to avoid an issue but it was maintaining so well even in a dark watch box I had no concern until I was stuck on 50% charge finally heading to zero.

This is purely user error on my part I am going to review all original documents and this is a fine watch with great time keeping just a lesson to me to educate myself better when obtaining a watch that uses a different power. So glad I got it to full charge and accuracy and didn’t ruin it through lack of knowledge.

Thanks for the feedback
