How Did You Choose Your OF Avatar and Username?

My username was supposed to be Lill E troll. But I wrote Lill A troll by mistake. Lilletroll ( with an e)means little troll, but Lillatroll ( with an A) means purple troll.

I chose the name because it is Norwegian and means I don't have to come up with hundreds of alternatives if I need to have a username for internet sites. I am not from Norway but I lived there for 16 years.

My avatar is a watch that I own but never actually worn. Perhaps next time I am home I will pick it up and add it to my rotation.

My name is Doncho and from there Donko1100. 1100 because when I registered on sites and our forum in Bulgaria years ago, only Donko was busy.
The photo is of my favorite Omega CK 859 watch from 1939.

My pals and the first letter of the Greek alphabet, didn't reckon the last letter being Omega would be appropriate.

Forgot to explain the username. After diving down the rabbit hole that is the Speedmaster and its ties to the space program, that inspired me to pick up my first 'real' watch. The search began, and after lurking on this site to learn "why the hell that old beat up Speedie is so expensive compared to this other one that looks brand new!?!?", I settled on a 3592.50 Apollo XI that fit my budget and is what I consider a nice clean example. I enjoyed the community and all the knowledge to be gained, so I decided to become a member. The user name just seemed fitting...things had finally aligned.

syz·y·gy
/ˈsizijē/
noun
ASTRONOMY
  1. a conjunction or opposition, especially of the moon with the sun.

The avatar, as noted pages ago is a picture of my old boy Chance, half beagle, half rolling stone. He was a beautiful personality, 'all boy' as my better half would describe him as, and a total ham. This picture was taken after he had been running circles, having a blast playing chase in the back yard...I kneeled down with the camera and he ran up and stopped right in front of me as if to say 'whatcha doin? We play chase more?'. Damn, I miss that old boy. Every time I see that picture it hits me right in the feels.

Username: I wore jersey 64 back in the days of playing football and I'm an aviation nerd/professional. Mashed them together.

Avatar: just a wrist shot of my speedy. Always wanted one and finally managed to snag one back in 2018...even though I probably shouldn't have. But it was a smokin' deal!

I wonder if anyone has gone to both Universities of Miami…
Funny how you never see both universities together in the same room.

Kroger is/was a supermarket chain in Texas and krogerfoot was the blackened soles of the feet of Texas hippies who went around barefoot. The avatar is just as it appears, a shot of John Goodman as Walter Sobchek in The Big Lebowski futilely trying to intimidate a high school kid, but altered* to depict him holding a copy of The Pod by Ween, so not much of a story there, I’m afraid.

* By this brilliant blogger somewhere in here.

Avatar is a picture of some watches (chocolate deVille and the first modern ploprof in Canada) that my wife and I took on our honeymoon resting on the concrete slab at the very end of the railway in northern Alaska…hence the Omega (I think). And paedipod is what I do to finance watches: paediatric orthopaedics.

I’ve been using sonicosa since I was in college 20 years ago and the meaning is to embarrassing to share now. I will say it’s Sonic OSA though and not supposed to be however sonicosa would be pronounced.

My avatar is a picture of my wife taking a cell phone pic on our honeymoon in Copenhagen while a bicyclist rides by in the background.

I like a play on words so I generally chose usernames like Mayor Disaster, Philis Stein, Seaman Stains, etc.
So my user name Pastorbottle….. pass the bottle……something I seem to say a lot!

The avatar is just the most recent pic taken of me, there’s not many pix of me about……must be that I’m not very photogenic!
And I’m not self obsessed enough for selfies.

Username is the same as the one I was using on the BMW forums (so you can guess what model I own and my mother tongue) when I created this profile, but in hindsight, I wished I had created a more specific one for the OF. Still thinking of creating a new username and adding link to this one for continuity… but I am also a creature of habit and will readily admit that I don’t even like it when some of you guys change their avatar because I get all confused about what happened!! 😗

Avatar is easier to understand: have been a huge Tintin fan since I was a kid, and the shuttle is fitting when it comes to the Speedmaster linkage with space exploration. Stil amazes me that Hergé managed to get so many things right in his story, even if his favorite reporter landed on the moon 16 years before Neil Armstrong and the Apollo 11 program!!!!! 😲👍🥰

Your car bear the BMW Motorsport colors, no? Care to say more about that part of your life??

It’s no Beemer it’s actually a Holden Commodore, they’re sponsor’s colours, if it was up to me it’d be something in you face, like poo-fly green, definitely not a boring as batshit cliche, white with red n blue shit on it
I save the car stuff for car forums, otherwise you’d never hear the end of it, and I’ve always kept my interests separate, my life is confusing enough for me to follow let alone inflicting it on you poor bastards.

My user name was not real well thought out. Kinda wish I’d made it more anonymous. My avatar is our late and very much loved Shiba Inu, Banzai. He lived a full, very active life and passed at 16. My avatar text was given to my by Dennis AKA “The Squirrel” following my overzealous defense of the Crown one afternoon.

My username came from my cat, Maithai a lilac point Siamese back in the 1990’s. I was trying to choose a username for something on the PC in my room and she stood on my keyboard, one paw pressed the D&S keys and another pressed the I&O keys. She was a very good cat and passed in about 2008. The Avatar is my 2627 Seamaster Deluxe Piepan, my favorite watch and the last one I would ever part with.

She was such a beautiful kitty! I hope she and our Tommy are enjoying their tidy stash of heavenly catnip.

Even though my “Grown up” job is In law enforcement, my passion and hobby is in art. I’d say about 70% of my work involves animals/pets (hence the username) and the other is in people portraits. The picture is one I did and thought that was pretty close to the topic of wrist watches. It’s a hand at least 😉

You should, unless you have already, post some of your work... I like what I see for the avatar. Very nice!
