·I got this damn mystery and it’s starting to bother me. Rocky raccoon has figured out how to manipulate the lock on the sliding cat doors in my house. Him and his brother have seven claws per paw and I have noticed they utilize their paws more than past cats I’ve had who had the standard five. None of the doors lead outside so it’s not a big deal but it has me baffled how he does it especially on the return trip which should not be possible.
I am considering setting up a game cam to see what’s going on as it’s possible my wife is doing this to mess with me. She saw me on my hands and knees trying to manipulate the little lock tab with my knuckles and walked away laughing. When I hear them moving the door I have run down to catch it but just see a tail sticking out. I have greater concerns of course but I must get to the bottom of this mystery.
I added a picture of his paw with the two extra claws. FYI nail clipping time is bad enough with 5 claws the extra two just add to the misery.
