These two are really bonding. Max was in the bed and Zelda got in and snuggled up next to him. Not something I've seen her do before. He is so calm and sweet with her, I think she feels really safe.

Awwwe, adorable!

Here’s our ‘lil adoptee after sticking her nose in whipped cream:

… mesmerized by the pendulum on the clock:

… hiding under the dining table:

Now at 3 months old, she’s no fat cat, just long and lean:

Definitely an armful for my 3-yo niece!
Cute kitty and cute niece. Do you mind if I inquire if you used the adoption method where you fill out all the info online and wait to see if you hear back. I’m having a difficult time but it hasn’t been that long I’ve just never been down this road before. I did have one in NY give me like instant approval but they became real pushy and started sayin I should get 4 cats (at 300 a piece) another one my application is now with “the board” but I might get rejected as I can’t remember every vet my cat who lived to 25 saw. When I called the vets I think spayed her 24 years ago they laughed and said they don’t keep records that long.

I guess I’m just wondering how you found the process and how long it took. I

So...dogs had a bit of a dust up over a toy...Remi is the Alpha dog, but Maeve can still inflict some damage...puncture on his snout...

But not long after they are fine again...

No major damage done, although Maeve was limping for a few minutes after.

My daughter drug me into the Oklahoma City animal shelter and adoption center about 2 months after we lost our 17-year old cat, Belle.

I think we just got lucky that day because there were two cute kittens that had just come out of foster care, and were ready for adoption. In our city, and at the center, all of the pets have already had their shots and have been spayed or neutered and chipped. You sign a few forms, pay a $30 registration fee, and take them home the same day! There was no vetting of any sort! I think this is fairly typical of a city run operation that is well funded by taxpayers…

I wish you luck!

Thanks for the reply, they don’t do it that way in my area. I don’t know how knew this vetting thing is but some even ask for character references, and that is a city operated pound although I don’t know how well funded it is.

Funny how that happens, and usually over toys and/or chews. With multiple dogs, we have seen this many, many times between long-time companions. The worst time was a pretty major flare-up while we were camping that resulted in some paw damage. Given that we were in the wilderness with limited first-aid supplies, it was not convenient.

Once you start adopting pet you run the risk of ending up with 13

Have only 11 now but constantly have to rein in my adopting another

I find that amazing. You must have a train delivery of dog food weekly. I don’t mean this in a negative way but what does one call a “crazy cat lady” but with dogs. I could easily be a crazy cat or dog lady if I really put my mind to it.

When we first got Maeve, Remi was ill and pretty frail, so she was sort of the Alpha dog for a bit, even though he is 25% larger/heavier than her. We were told that she was the Alpha female in the group of dogs she lived with at the breeder.

As he got better, he started to assert himself again, and there was quite a violent (sounding) fight over a toy - same toy this fight was over. Remi ended up having Maeve on her back with his teeth on her throat, and since then she normally doesn't challenge him. No damage done then, he was just letting her know.

Our dogs love ice cubes as a treat (in particular in the hot weather), so everyday at lunch when I get some water, I get them each an ice cube. I usually toss them on the carpet so they are easy to pick up, and if Remi even hints that he is going to get the first one, she backs right off and waits for the second. That even happened the day of this fight, so not quite sure what triggered this one. I was in the shower when it happened, and my wife didn't see it start, so who knows. The good thing is as soon as she said stop, they both did!

They’re all so beautiful - and yes! the Calico is a cutie. A tough choice. Maybe life as a ‘crazy cat lady’ begins this weekend…?

Old boy with his nightly stance - ‘’I just got to to go now Dad’ ‘’… time to take him down for supper and access to the great unknown, cat stuff is the greater calling. No doubt he will be singing to wake us up at 6am, despite having a triple A pass cat-flap.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light…..

This is getting a little odd. Last night I got a call from a Tennessee rescue they read my application and called my vet and really want me to take the kitten currently called “Fazz” she would be delivered 10 Sept fully spayed and vaccinated and be around four months. However she read on my application the type of cat I was looking for and I don’t remember doing it but I basically described my old friend Hairy to a T not only in look but in personality. So I backed it up and explained to the lady my recent loss and she understood.

Made me sad though realizing I inadvertently asked them to return hairy to me. So I had a 40 minute conversation with this lady last night and this AM she called again telling me their vet gave the OK for “Fazz” to be spayed which will mean she has to heal up and can’t make the 1,200 mile trip until 9th of next month. Now today I have an appointment at a rescue in my state and my wife is gonna be pissed if I have cats coming in from all over the country. (You gotta pay the rescues as well) so temporary hairy memorial watch on, listening to Tennessee Jed, and gotta make some decisions. Gotta feel out my wife see how long she won’t talk to me if I get two, if it’s over a week it’s probably worth it. Edit, damn dirty crystal i hate when I do that

@Omegafanman how much does the old boy way. After work last night I stopped by my buddies girlfriends place as he wanted to borrow a vintage bass guitar I have. She has a beautiful half Maine coon darn thing weighs 22 pounds. It’s a lovable ball of fur but I imagine trying to put it in a cat carrier against its will would be a bit of a battle. I couldn’t take a picture as the cat was sitting on a pile of her clothing and I noticed some unmentionables. Anyway, the look of hers was quite similar to old boy.

Mike is not impressed with cats. In fact nothing much impresses Mike. He is the most docile animal I have ever seen.

What a good boy. As they get older, my Boxers also tend to get a dry nose like Mike. I've tried tons of treatments, and Bag Balm is the best. With a tiny nose like that, this could be a lifetime supply.

In his prime he was over 6kg (13 pounds) we think he is part Norwegian forest cat/not Maine Coon. With age his weight has slowly dropped to 4.2kg. With a lot of spoiling and fussy food choices we have managed to hold him around that weight the last 6 months, so hopefully he stays on a good run for a while now. Having a bit of competition with young girl might have helped more than hindered in some respects.

Poor Zelda had a tough day. At about 7am, she broke out in huge hives and her face swelled up incredibly, especially her lips and jowls. However, she was in good spirits and ate well, so I figured it was just a dramatic reaction to a bee sting or bug bite, and gave her some Benadryl. After a couple of hours it seemed to be getting better.

But then at noon, she broke out in hives again all over her body and she was vomiting, so I took her to the emergency vet. They agreed it was an allergic reaction, didn't think it was dangerous, but thought she needed a stronger dose of (injected) antihistamine and supplemented it with a steroid injection. She's groggy now, but seems to be comfortable. She had a good appetite for dinner and held it down. I'll give her Benadryl for the next couple of days and hopefully there will be no more outbreaks.

Many thanks @allwoundup. She has been through much worse than this and always bounced right back, and the vet didn't seem too concerned. I'm hopeful she will wake up tomorrow morning rarin' to go. 👍
