So I went to a shelter and left with two brothers, half Russian blue. Just about to hit a year. The “donation” is much more than I expected for “mutt cats” but these two are so bonded it’s amazing. I only let them on the porch but they got brave and ran down the stairs on me. I ran down had to get one at a time and when they are out of each other’s site they become visible and auditory disturbed. It is very difficult for me to get pictures of them sitting together because when I get close enough for a picture they automatically run to me for patting.

Last night was a tad sad as I gave them the last of hairys treats which I had in a special container that opens silently as hairy had that seizure issue. So it just got me thinking of the double whammy of sooper then hairy but the brothers are nice to be taking care of. I was 15 minutes late for work Monday as they went into a stalk and fight that was quite entertaining. But I put on my temporary hairy memorial watch today as I was reviewing everything I did and wondered if I missed something but these aren’t helpful thoughts.

I just got the brothers Saturday night, they are like seeing double and hats to tell apart. No solid names yet but I’m thinking

Maharishi Maharishi
And
Rocky Raccoon
Still a work in progress

So first the Hairy temp memorial

They each have 7 toes on each side. They are common in my area as back in the day they were good luck symbols on shipping, the sailors would pamper them as they were thought to be better climbers and rodent killers. Ernest Hemingway was fascinated with them and his home today which is now a museum is loaded with them.

So introducing
Maharishi Maharishi
And
Rocky Raccoon
(Names in development)

Congrats, and welcome to the brothers.

Edit: I just reminded myself of the names of the Karamazov brothers: Dmitri, Ivan, and Alexei

Damn those are good as well. I do have one more coming eventually. I’m still working with the rescue people in Tennessee and they will notify me if they come accross a long haired white kitten. Three is my max although once I had three cats and one dog. They all got along great. Except the dog was a bit paranoid as the cats liked to use his big black nose as claw target practice

edit- I don’t regret it but I can help but think what I spent on cat medical bills and my new brothers seriously does put me in the realm of a fifty fathoms which although I hate to say it, is kinda my “grail watch” a used one mind you

Ah thanks. It’s odd I figured personality would be the easiest way to to tell them apart. But thus far it’s like they split alpha status, most fights are a draw, affection is doled out equally the both follow me like the pied piper. Monday I know 100% they were not in my bathroom closet where I keep my razor. When I opened it they were both on the second shelf. I have no idea how they moved that quickly and jumped such a narrow opening in what had to be seconds. I put a collar on one and have actually been calling them blue collar and no collar while I figure things out. So at this age, so far (only a few days) even personality is damn near the same. I’m pretty sure Rocky raccoon is going to be more plump as he really packs down the food while Maharishi Maharishi Yogi seems to, although they both fly into the room knocking things over when they hear cat food rattle or a can open, eats like he isn’t starving to death. I will at some point get a side by side picture I’m sure but at this point when they are together either a play fight breaks out or they jockey for attention. Maharishi Maharishi Yogi maybe be a tad more high strung. I’m sure I’ll figure more things out just all those years with cats that not only looked completely different but we’re so different to the point they were almost different species makes this a little more difficult

Ok I figured it out this AM Rocky raccoon gets too crazy at eating time and needs to eat out of all bowls, Maharishi waits till Rocky is done them goes in and polishes everything off in peace, like a true yogi at one with everything.

I guess Rocky fears that I am going to run out of food and needs to eat everything asap incase he never gets anymore food.

My job, imo idiotically placed this thing in back of our building pretty much for the sake of spending money. Been here months we have not utilized it once nor has anyone even walked in the damn thing. I offered 1.50 donation if we could name it “The Hairy the cat memorial gazebo”. I was flat out denied. I am going to make a small plaque and put it on the far side anyway as no one will notice but it will make me feel better.

Well the brothers Maharishi Maharishi yogi and Rock Raccoon are settling in well. I thought I loaded them up with enough food for two days when I left this morning, I got home late and every bit off food was gone so a feeding frenzy ensued. I don’t know if it’s by smell or just good locations but they each picked out one of sooper doopers favorite places to sit and one of hairys.
Like hairy and sooper they now know the treat cabinet. They will stare at it giving me a hint. Unfortunately Rocky raccoon tries to take the peaceful Maharishi’s treats. Still difficult to take pictures of them as they are always on the move.

1st world problem but I’m feeling crappy today the brothers didn’t let me get much sleep. Knocked over a plant, lamp and found my small packet of screw drivers which they batted around all night. They can’t seem to be within a foot of each other without going into full spazz mode. I did get one shot of them peaceful together which is not common. When I gave them a lecture in the morning Maharishi Maharishi yogi gave me the innocent look.

Older kittens are full of energy. Don’t worry that wears off in 3-5 years

I got a new modern brush for Old boy and he loves it. It got me thinking how different his coat is compared to young girl.
He looks black but rusts in the sun / has a brown hue after demanding a show level brushing. At times his outer fur ‘punks up’ sticks out. I think it has natural oils to keep the rain off a bit. His under coat is a fine cotton wool like down. Grey in colour and light / very warm. I get enough to stuff a pillow in a week. If I have to wash him (high risk/super rare) he looks like a drowned rat and takes hours to dry. He hates it. Young girl does not mind rain much and just shakes water off herself like a dog. She does not have much of an undercoat and drys really quickly. She get a lot of knots but does not lose much fur. It is funny, he is built for frozen Norwegian forests, but old boy hates the cold SOooo much and she can’t stand it too warm.
