Here is the latest one I applied to adopt. I’m not trying to replace hairy as that will never happen but perhaps the temperament on long haired domestic females is similar. This adoption stuff is cut throat and I have already missed two as someone was ahead of me inline. I did get to play with a beautiful half Maine coon and a retriever dog which was fun. They want to talk to all the vets who treated sooper dooper but to be honest over 25 years I can’t recall all the vets she saw.
They have a pre approval process before you can adopt. It is by phone. Scooper and Hairy are allowed to vouch for you.
In my area it’s not really a “pre approval” it’s more like applying for security clearance at the DOD. I appreciate they are careful who they give animals to but the vet verified I gave sooper dooper IV fluids and injections for over 5 years and they still want to talk to the vet who spayed her 25 years ago I can’t even remember who it was. Maybe it’s good I’m having this little “time out” from pets but my parents had them when I was born so I grew up with a big dog knocking me over and a cat jumping in my crib I can’t deal with this no pet thing.
Old boy is looking forward to a break in the heat next week. Carpet for comfort and wood for cool…. Tail up for free air circulation :0)
We had a night away and he was giving the case the stink eye. He 100% knew what was going down and was not happy about it. All was forgiven on our return today - aided with some fresh chicken :0). We met a new friend on the trip… maybe he could smell some competition.

I called one of the places I filled out an adoption form for. They informed me my application was complete and is now with the board. I should hear something in ten days. Ha ha. Meanwhile I’m on my way to see a cat that was in a “abusive situation” and grabbed out. I’ve already tried to see it twice today but it’s sleeping somewhere in their house. Pics to follow if found.
We returned yesterday from an uncommon full-family backpacking trip, with all three dogs. They were a handful at times, but really fun to have everyone together on the trail.

Old boy out early today - waiting for the hot spell to break/enjoying some cool morning air. Freshly fed and double brushed.... he looks like he knows he is looking so hot he might start a grass fire.....
