Thanks guys - word came in from the vet today that the lab is still having difficulties pinning down exactly what this is. They had done a needle biopsy before this and results were inconclusive, and even with more tissue to sample they still can't give us anything solid. They did say there's no sign of anything that is overly aggressive, so I suppose that's good news.
I guess for now we wait and see if it comes back, and deal with it then.
