Sorry for your loss but you knew it was time to let her go.
Very important to be with them at the end as they cross that rainbow bridge and I'm positive they appreciate it.
So long Sooper

That is a great idea. I’m going to pick up something and plant it for her. I think you posted that prior and I liked it thanks for reposting as it had slipped my mind. I did that for a friend who passed years back when I go by the old place I’m always happy to see it still growing.

we planted the little dogwood right next to the porch, so we can see it everyday.

@Walrus - Thinking of you all today and will raise a coffee cup toast for Sooper over breakfast + clink a glass tonight in her honour.
She fell on her paws having you as a pet parent / enjoyed a good long life, but still some hard days ahead for you we all know. Lovely watch by the way / big fan of that style.

So we did have toast for Sooper tonight. Old boy checked out the wine, stole my chair (as usual), refused to move to improve my posture (as usual) and stole too much of our chicken… but then pulled the cuteness card as they all always do ;0)

I hope it was a 25 year old bottle of wine. Although tbh she only made it a handful of days into her 25th year. Actually I remember my mother yelling at sooper once, when my mother was over, for drinking wine out of her glass, it was a probably 15 years ago but I seem to recall it was a white wine.

We mostly stick on red despite any pairing conventions. Interesting Sooper had a drop. I recall she also liked coffee. That is interesting as I am sure coffee featured in the diet of some other very very long lived felines. Maybe it is a bit of a tonic for them or perhaps as the taste and smell fades it is just a strong flavour they can register. I don’t think wine and coffee should be offered as diet advice for cats but equally, clearly did not do Sooper any harm based on her longevity:0)

I don't think any of our cats (or Polo) liked coffee and none would touch alcohol.
But all of our pets have liked cheese especially Stilton.
The longest living of our cats was Herbie, who reached 20 and then little un who lived till she was 18.
Herbie was a calm placid cat who schmoozed people.
He never caught mice or birds and would sit on my bike shed while birds fluttered by and the odd squirrel happened along.Herbie didn't bat a ginger eyelid.
We already had 3 cats when he joined us.He was a neighbours cat and just decided he was better off with us.
Who ever the neighbours were they just removed his address tag and he joined us.

I think it is a wonderful idea to plant something in memory, a few weeks ago we planted some wild flower seeds for our old boy 🥰

A corner in the garden where he often enjoyed a sleep in the sunshine,

My neighbor had his mini horses out again. I gotta say they really look like they are hard at work cutting his grass but the were out every day this week and the lawn is looking a bit high. I’m beginning to doubt these fellas have their heart into getting this job done properly

"Is he still there?"

"Yep"

"Does he have his camera phone out"

"Yep"

"Sheesh. Well, keep eating. He'll be gone soon."

"Yep"

I haven’t ruled out the idea they may be running some BS game on me as imo horses are rather intelligent but I got a book on “horse whispering” at the library so I’m going to break these two like twigs by chapter 3. Just gotta fit horse whispering in between my professional cloud photography thing and the amateur theoretical physicist gig but I’ll get it done.

My neighbor invited me to the firework extravaganza. The dude did very well for himself and he seriously puts on a better display than the our town. I can’t ask him not to do it because the noise will give hairy the cat seizures. So I’m practicing holding her ears down but it looks like cotton balls in the ears are going to be my best option as she gets annoyed after 30 seconds of flat ear.
