I was not going to post anymore pics of sooper. For two days she wasn’t moving much or eating. I got home yesterday and my heart skipped a few beats when she wasn’t laying under the kitchen table which is were she has spent the last two days. She had an appointment to be put down. I began looking around for her but she popped up behind me and meowed for food. Brought her to the vet and he sent her home with antibiotics. I’m bringing her back Monday so we aren’t in the clear but sooper now hit 25 years old and I just finished giving her meds and food

I didn’t think she would make it and worse quality of life was really bad for a few days but she really bounced back. Only two doses so far of the antibiotic are really having a noticeable positive impact. Don’t want to say it’s “all great” but this cat has amazed me in the past and I guess it’s possible it could happen again. I don’t have a lot of hope as I can’t seem to get her weight up at least she made the quarter century mark at home feeling well. We will worry about Monday when Monday comes today is a good day for her that’s all any of us have anyway.

Polo and local celebrity Max in Keswick
From the look of his videos, i should think Max (RIP) would have enjoyed accompanying DanS's gang hiking Colorado.

25 is some age 👍 one of ours hit 20 and another 18 but 25 is incredible.
As long as she likes lying in the not too warm sun, long may she reign.

Polo eyeing up the food a couple of months ago.
The cheese slices were his and he had some chips but he's strictly tee total

This was the first time we saw our boy at a Staffie rescue home in Wales May 2014.
He actually weed himself with excitement then rolled over for a tickle.
He joined us for a week then had to go back as we were going for a weeks holiday to Austria.
We were expected some difficulty as he settled but got none.
The first walk after joining us involved mud, speints, rolling over in long grass and a swim then an ice cream later on.
8 years after getting him it has definitely been one ofour best decisions

We - Sam, her friend, and I , often share a doggy ice cream between us.
I always get the first few spoons.

Well I’m trying everything for sooper. Tuna, sardines, believe it or not caviar but she just isn’t eating. I put these plates all over the areas she likes to walk around and soon enough I find hairy acting like the first floor is a buffet. I’m am doing my best to keep her upstairs but she knows the good stuff is down below. Seizures are not impacting her diet it’s sad for sooper but I think hairy put on a couple pounds.

Super dooper belongs to the ages. Many thanks for all the likes all of you gave sooper dooper and the well wishes as I became a amateur vet technician as soopers health declined but she kept trooping on. Today was it. I came home in a rush as I had a watch on the way the happiness of getting a watch was tempered by the undeniable fact that as I looked at sooper I knew the time had come, she was suffering and I had to say goodbye to my friend of 25 years.

Went to the emergency vet and they handled the situation very well but i cried like a baby as sooper dooper slipped away. God I forgot how sad that shit is. But I had to hold her as she went. After her putting up with me for 25 years there was no way I was not going to be with her on her departure. She had a couple good days where I thought she was bouncing back but animals (and humans) can decline very quickly.

I actually did this a couple hours ago, I probably should take sometime to let this sink in but I’m actually finding myself looking for her. She bounced back so many times the last 8 years I kinda fooled myself into thinking it would happen again. I didn’t let it drag on and be party to increasing her suffering in my hopes for another miraculous bounce back.

So no need for condolences or sadness sooper had a great long life. Hairy is ten years younger than her and already she is getting hit with medical issues. Sooper never bit or scratched me, never killed a bird, was nice to the cats (and dog) I brought home that she outlived. She outlived a German Shepard and at least two cats. Actually two other dogs as well but they were my brothers. I am going to miss that meow for food. I’m even going to miss her stealing my coffee in the morning and sitting with me as I watched the morning news before leaving for the day. She was definitely ingrained in my life. Weird it’s over.

Fare ye well sooper thanks for being a good fluffy friend for 25 years. I will name the watch I received (bought from a member here) Sooper watch after you.

@Walrus you need some time and space right now - it's clear you're shaken up. You have done so right by sooper dooper all along, and most of all in those final hours. She is taking a fine rest now, and she knew she was loved. The wounds take time to heal, and the good memories are just waiting their time to come to the fore. Take it easy, especially after Baxter and your recent worries about Hairy, it's all going to be OK. Thank you for sharing something so important, and something of yourself, because it helps us all, and what goes around comes around.

Sooper had a helluva ride, and you always did right by her. She will be missed.
