Cats certainly don’t display the emotions dogs do but this is the first time hairy has been an only cat in my house since she got here. I can’t say she was affectionate to her peers but I notice now that they are both gone she seems a bit lost and I frequently find her peeking into the rooms sooper hung out in. She is also waking me up more frequently during the night for attention. The one thing hairy and sooper always did do together was sunbathe and this seems to be when hairy spends the most time looking for her old partner.

Perhaps a German Shepard puppy would cheer her up?

I actually stopped over to check on the German Shepard puppies he sold the last one he was considering keeping. I was really curious to ask the price he got but I figured that was none of my business. Probably just as well I’m not home enough to properly train a puppy what would I do keep it in a cage all day? Not saying that’s wrong I know a lot of people do that it just seems Puppies need to get out and burn off that energy.

It is hard on animals when another member of the family is gone. We've seen significant behavioral issues emerge on several occasions. Of course, that is among dogs, and they are pack animals by nature.

Super dooper belongs to the ages. Many thanks for all the likes all of you gave sooper dooper and the well wishes as I became a amateur vet technician as soopers health declined but she kept trooping on. Today was it. I came home in a rush as I had a watch on the way the happiness of getting a watch was tempered by the undeniable fact that as I looked at sooper I knew the time had come, she was suffering and I had to say goodbye to my friend of 25 years.

Went to the emergency vet and they handled the situation very well but i cried like a baby as sooper dooper slipped away. God I forgot how sad that shit is. But I had to hold her as she went. After her putting up with me for 25 years there was no way I was not going to be with her on her departure. She had a couple good days where I thought she was bouncing back but animals (and humans) can decline very quickly.

I actually did this a couple hours ago, I probably should take sometime to let this sink in but I’m actually finding myself looking for her. She bounced back so many times the last 8 years I kinda fooled myself into thinking it would happen again. I didn’t let it drag on and be party to increasing her suffering in my hopes for another miraculous bounce back.

So no need for condolences or sadness sooper had a great long life. Hairy is ten years younger than her and already she is getting hit with medical issues. Sooper never bit or scratched me, never killed a bird, was nice to the cats (and dog) I brought home that she outlived. She outlived a German Shepard and at least two cats. Actually two other dogs as well but they were my brothers. I am going to miss that meow for food. I’m even going to miss her stealing my coffee in the morning and sitting with me as I watched the morning news before leaving for the day. She was definitely ingrained in my life. Weird it’s over.

Fare ye well sooper thanks for being a good fluffy friend for 25 years. I will name the watch I received (bought from a member here) Sooper watch after you.
I had to shed few for Sooper and family, as I always do when I read these stories. I for one, am still trying to get over the passing of our beloved Boules Noires. Love hurts. Unconditional love scorches…especially 25 years of it! In the end, it’s all good.

Ah just received this from the emergency vet. I know they are a business but the workers legitimately appear to care. I thought it was a nice touch

Looks like he (he?) is going to be a decent size. His chompers and paws look pretty big compared to his body.
