Bumped into a couple of old timers today on my ramble.
One has a medical collar warning no food - getting on now and needs a special diet at home only.
The other is an old boy who lost his tail and is getting the old cat thin hindquarters look… but still has his evening patrol.
Both were super confident and super friendly. Really pleased someone was giving them the time of day and saying hello. They are all good cats :0). They keep going despite age and illness the best they can.
.
That calico has seen some serious battles. A couple years back Hairy unwisely had a fight with a bobcat. She had a pretty good wound on her chest similar to that calico. Hairy didn’t back down and the bobcat ran off. I don’t think they do that out of fear wild cats will avoid fights if it’s not something the plan on eating. I usually only let them out When I’m around she snuck out that time. Sooper just can’t go out she is just prey at this point.

I think it might be my photography but I will check if I see her again. I suspect it is the medical condition / it was very thin but happy. Apart from humans, cars, other cats and the odd fox they do not have too much to worry about here. We were out and about yesterday ahead of the Jubilee. I met up with another long term kitten- cat friend who was doing well. Talking calico, we also took some home grown Pak-Choi to a tortoiseshell….. which seemed appreciated:0)

Pup supposedly on a short visit but it is beginning to look as if it may turn out to be a sleepover 😁

My neighbor down the street called me over last week. His pure bred German Shepard had a litter. Five pups. He offered me one at his cost which I think just means the cost of papers and vet care (tbh I don’t know what that is) I saw them very cute just opening their eyes and mama dog was so proud as I looked at her pups it was quite funny to see.
I didn’t have my phone but trust me if you saw them you would instantly want one. I helped him out after we got a tornado through our area so i guess he is being nice. Of course the word “yes” was the first thing to come to mind but I gotta think about the two cats I have and their medical issues (one end of life) if I were bring a puppy home it would probably hasten their decompensation so I actually had to turn down a German Shepard which is probably my favorite breed. Tough as hec to do and he just hit us up via email to confirm I don’t want one I don’t have the heart to reply right now. I’ll tell him tomorrow.
I kinda wish he didn’t tell me as for two weeks now it’s really weighing on me how I would love another Shepard. That was my first kind of dog and talk about faithful and affectionate and intelligent (imo) I just love them. I gotta avoid his place as it’s literally three houses down it would be so easy for me to just walk back with a new pup but it would really turn my place upside down.
He certainly did not mean to create this disruption to my chi but he certainly did.

Indeed! He is definitely a long-legged kitty; I can see this image serves to enhance that! We figure he’s about 5 1/2 now. We love him to bits. We’d love him more if he slept past 4:45am.

Oh he looks really young that’s cool I guess I’m so used to my elderly cats any cat under 15 is a kitten to me.

Yes it turned out to be a sleepover last night and to be repeated this evening, I must admit he is fitting in really well 🥰
