Here's my bookends, Sammy (on the left) and Chandler (on the right). This pic was taken about 3 years ago, Chandler passed away at age 18 about two years ago. I really miss that cat, he was one in a billion. Sammy is still with us at age 19, he's blind, (from hypertension), has bad arthritis, and we give him daily sub-Q fluids to help his struggling kidneys. He's slowed down with his aliments and age, but he's hanging in there. He's not suffering and loves to curl up on our laps. When he was younger he was always in hyper drive--turns out he had a hyper active thyroid that was keeping him going. We treated that with radiation and now his thyroid is fine. He's a big cat and was king of the roost in the neighborhood, and despite being de-clawed he could send his fully-clawed playmates running. Sammy will be our last cat (for a while) he's the last of 12 that preceded him, and we've had one live to 25, one to 21, with most hanging in there for 18 years.

Rikki died yesterday
I'm sorry mate. Hoping when you're through the pain, the good memories will come. Takes time, I know.

I mourn every one of our 11 that have passed over the last 42 years, but I take comfort knowing we'll see them again. We love our last one so much, he'll leave a big hole in our hearts because he filled them up so much.

Just returned home after a short break and the first without our old pal, yes we had a lovely time but we found ourselves constantly reminiscing over all the many lovely times with him, he will certainly never leave us 🥰

As time goes by I really should stop calling him ' the wee boy' but he seemed to enjoy himself as much as we did 😀

He surely never will leave you, he remains in your heart, and in the memories of time spent together.

He was a lucky one... Or you all were lucky 😉

Very sorry to hear that. That feeling you get when they are just “gone” is really intense. It is so cool we make these bonds of affection with a different species and how easily they can cheer us up but that goodbye just sucks.

Well after more testing it’s like almost kinda somewhat definite that hairy has audiogenic seizures also known as Tom and Gerry’s disease which is so rare there is debate about it really existing. Kidney issue manageable at this time but vet forgot to write down what I’m supposed to do. So hairy who was always weird anyway is now more weird cause she got a weird illness my vet has never seen in his twenty years being a vet. Congrats hairy

I'm so sorry to hear this. I've never really been a cat person, but I just have to say that imo Hairy has more charisma than any cat I have ever seen. I hope things go OK with you both for now, not forgetting Sooper too.
