My wife was on her first business since covid. I argued with her via text about a missing bag of cat treats she said she purchased prior to leaving. I explained I can’t leave in the morning if hairy doesn’t have her treats cause she stares at the treat cabinet and I’m afraid she me be stuck like that the 9 or twelve hours I was gone. I always forget to just buy a bag which would actually have taken less time than arguing via text. My wife arrived home today and located the new bag in two minutes, she then proceeded to call me crazy. I fear she may be right.

I was going to trim hairy today. I notice when she is laying downs and peaceful I get a couple minutes to cut her hair until she get annoyed. But today I was faced with this mess and I’m not sure where that big pile ends up when she stands so I left well enough alone

These two greatly enjoyed their Easter egg hunt. Filled with dog treats, they quickly learned that pushing down on the egg with their snout will split the egg in half. Each egg they found, they carefully picked it up in their mouth, carried it to this grass pad, and opened it. They quickly found all 15 and enjoyed their bounty.

Met up with a couple of old friends over the Easter weekend. Looks like they packed on a few lockdown pounds but both still happy, healthy and getting on well. Lovely weather here in the UK for the holiday.

Must confess I have been feeling slightly ragged all day, my old pal started barking and howling in the early hours of this morning so it was out of bed p.d.q. thinking he was being caught short but no so back to his bed and no sooner had I crawled in to mine that he started up again and I ended up sitting with him for the rest of the night but to no avail and the barking and howling continued. Research comes up with the onset of dementia which would not come as a surprise as often when we are out you can tell that he is struggling to register what he is looking at etc. etc.
Hopefully this evening we will both have a goods night sleep.

Running into a similar issue with sooper got home from work she was standing near the food bowl but even though I was right behind her she is completely deaf and now probably 80% blind when I finally got her attention she had trouble finding the bowl I put the food in. She does a weird meow at “off times” not like hairy who does it to mess with me but almost like she gets confused trying to find the spot on her dedicated couch we keep in the house just for her. I’m wondering how long this can continue but she seems to snap out of it for a couple weeks then we are back to a confused cat. It really makes for a difficult decision and I have topped out her meds I could increase the IV but that’s just hydration and don’t know how much that will help. Definitely unpleasant but hopefully next week she is back to stealing my coffee and being more aware. I was behind her waving my arms even tried stomping my feet this is all she did

Sorry to hear that. Maybe it was a one off / something had upset his system. There might be a smell he likes to help calm him and make him feel safer - lavender essential oil on a comfort blanket might be worth a try. Old age is a bit of a bugger for all of us, but at least he is lucky to have a top notch care team👍

Ok rather than do nothing I’m breaking out my cat medical kit B-12 mixed in with the IV can’t think of much else to try The IV is a human size dagger but it’s the little B-12 needle she hates so I can shoot it into the IV line and load her up with some steroids. I’ve had her on cancer pills but they are from the human pharmacy you can’t break them up and giving her a human size pill damn near drives her crazy so that is an on and off thing.

Ya sooper perked up a bit after the IV and B-12 she’s doing her weird meow thing getting on the couch but that just Seems to be a thing now. I guess as they continue to age the bad days come and go until they don’t kinda like us humans

Ha ha love seeing this dog he has become my buddy
I need to ask you dog owners something as it’s been ten years at least since my Shepard died. When the doggo saw me at the door he got excited and ran up to greet me. His owner came to the door seconds later and the dog was doing that excited dance dogs do as I brought him a treat. The owner inadvertently stepped on the dogs paw and doggo had a noticeable limp. It was also whimpering but intent on greeting me so doggo was limping, a little whimper and I was with the owner 2hrs plus discussing some things by the time I left the dogs walking was better but it was still making a noise that to me seemed to signify discomfort.
He is a very good dog owner just took it to the vet last week and spent over 600 usd as the dog had lime disease and needed meds and a full check up.
Would you think chances are the dog is ok regarding it’s paw? It’s been bothering me a bit since a left the limping as I said seemed to dissipate after 20 min and it could be those noises were just it being excited about visitors perhaps I’m asking a question that can’t be answered without X-rays these things always bother me as the owners always ask me what they should do and I don’t think he can afford another vet visit until sometime next month.

I am not a dog owner but I would say it is probably nothing serious and just needs a bit of time to calm down. If it was not showing any improvment the next day and or the dog seemed in serious pain I would think about getting it checked out. Part of keeping pets healthy is not taking them to the vet too much as overtreatment can be a thing when you are paying and it can be stressful for them anyway. Basically the owner needs to monitor it over a few days and react to any symptoms. It does not sound too serious either way. Maybe give him a ring to put your mind at rest.
I know somone whos dog had a grass seed infected paw/leg. They told a vet what had worked before but were informed that treatment was old fashioned. They had scans and meds which cost a lot but it did not heal the infection or work the seed out. They ended up seeing an old vet ... who gave the dog the medication treatment that the owner mentioned in the first visit and that cleared it (the owner could not buy it over the counter sadly).
