The Old Boy (Romeo) seems to want to make friends now... but might have burnt his bridges by being so grumpy when his Juliet first started to visit us from next door. She looks to have the upper Paw now and gives him a good hiss whenever he gets too close. He retired from the garden for an early night / thinking over his next move perhaps. I did get a lume shot as the nights are slowly closing in :0)

sometimes pets are closer, as they are living with us full time sharing same daily life, while some of the human family members have already relocated far away long time ago and they are on their own way
That is true my cat hairy has this desire to leave our home and become a world famous rap star. I keep holding her back not giving her money for the bus etc. maybe I should just let her go follow her dreams

Shoes on the beach….. it must be a European thing 🤨

We do it too in the Pacific Northwest and far northern California. It can be so windy and cold at the beach you really need to bundle up. I have a funny story about this. When my girls were very little they used to watch this show for preschoolers called Blues Clues. It is one of those shows where the host talks to the audience. There is a little blue dog called Blue and her owner / friend Steve. They decide to go to the beach and Steve opens Blue's closet and asks the kids "What does Blue need to go to the beach?" There are many choices like: swimsuit, sun hat and sandals, but my daughters started yelling out "the jacket, boots . . . " and other such things that they always wore to the beach. They were really confused by the "correct" answers.

+1. Anyone can go to the beach when its sunny.

I have a snapshot in my mind of my young daughters at the coast. We were in Newport beachcombing while the girls played in the sand. My wife and I got about 100 feet away and turned to see both girls laying face down on the beach with their hoodies pulled up and partly covering their face and their heads pointed into the wind. The strong wind was horizontal and blowing a stream of sand with it. They were perfectly content.

I wish I had a camera and that was before I had a cell phone. I was very proud of our girls at that moment and told my wife, now those are some tough Oregonian girls!

We still love the coast and we always wear shoes.

EDIT: I just told this story about Blues clues and people wearing swimsuits and sandals to the beach.

Her response was, "Wimps!"

I have experienced a number of those sand-blasting windy days on the Oregon Coast. I also love to just observe the power of the ocean. So amazing. Our ocean is so dangerous, I don't even let my kids dip their toes in. This little spot is right inside the mouth of the bay and just a few hundred yards from the coast guard station. It is calm and safe, but hypothermia is a serious concern. Here is a picture from early last summer. No wet-suits, just thin rash-guard shirts. Water temperature was about 52deg F = 11deg C, air temp around 70deg F = 21deg C. Tough kids.

That's stunning!

I commented earlier but I have a real desire to visit this area.
A time when heavy engineering was made to look beautiful and to last 🥰

As seen in previous posts the Old boy has his own flower pot... and always (untill now) leave ours alone. The runner beans have been cleared for Winter this week...and his on/off crush decided to steal one of the pots for herself. To foil her plans I put the canes back in like tank traps... but now she and Old boy are having a pot war and he beat my defences....From the photo it looks like I killed a vampire cat :0)

Last week in the lockdown update I posted a pic of the cocoon on the door jamb of the man cave. Well after a week of watching and observing the odd movement it all happened this morning. Hardly a David Attenborough production but it was pretty cool to observe. You will have to forgive the iPhone pics.

From a couple of days ago.

Yesterday, you can see the colour has change.

This morning and the colour is darker.

You can now see it start opening up.

And in no time at all.

The door jamb was too slick for him and he fell so a little assistance was required.

Safely in a tree while his wings dry.

The last we saw of him. Didn't get to see him fly away as we had to go for our Covid shots.

What he left behind.

I feel like celebrating this is the first time in months sooper dooper is free of cold symptoms. Poor cat has cancer, arthritis, needs IV fluids, B-12 injections and on top of that a darn near constant cold. I have to cycle through meds monthly as she keeps getting tolerance to them but after leaving out the antibiotic for several months I picked up another script of it and after three days of doses no more of those 10 cat sneezes in a row. She seems much happier and is eating better. Strange how her list of ailments is a mile long but this cold thing is the hardest to treat regularly
