Ok this is getting a little weird I just got home and was bringing the garbage can up the drive and my buddy Mr. Mantis is back. I know it’s weird but I pet him. He was in the driveway I don’t want him getting run over so I thought If I tried to pet him like a cat or dog it would scare him off. Instead he walked towards me. Is he an “Australian” mantis and wants to eat me or have we bonded? Is he trying to tell me something? Or is he thinking “why is this dude showing up everywhere I go, is he trying to tell me something? I guess I should name him. Shoot what do I call him. Ah, Kitty. Perfect name. So yes for the third or fifth time now pictures of my pet kitty

Be careful. This is sounding like a superhero origin story.

"OMG! What is that?!!"

"Don't worry, that's just Jim. I recognize his watch."

You'll need a super name. And a sidekick. I volunteer, just as long as I don't have to wear tights.

You are hired glad you mentioned tights as if you showed up to fight crime/save the world with me in tights you would instantly be fired.

I had to do a proof of life for sooper dooper. I had someone over giving me an estimate on some roof work I need done. I was trying to talk without opening the front door all the way as I was painting it. Anyway it wasn’t working so I opened the door all the way. He noticed I had to slide sooper dooper over as she likes to sleep right at the front door to catch the sun rays but since she is deaf she sleeps through everything and recently she decided she isn’t going to move when you open the door you either need to move her by hand or careful slide her with the door, neither of which wakes her up, she just doesn’t care.

So the dude started telling me my cat was dead. Like it’s not bad enough every time I get into the vet I gotta hear her say “I don’t know what’s keeping this cat alive” or “she looks her age” I tried telling the dude she is just really old and this is the kinda shit you do when your 114 or however old she is in human years. The dude didn’t believe me. I actually had to pick her up and she gave me one of those “wtf” meows. The guy stepped back a bit like I just did some black magic shit. I told him if his cat makes it to 24 years old just let it do what it wants and if it likes to block the door use the back door but it’s not that bad unless you bringing in groceries. I’m almost glad sooper is deaf cause people are saying some pretty bad stuff about her. So here proof of life she is OK

Spoiling my old pal and at his age why not ?

Same food day in and day out so just added a little chicken in batter for a wee change 😀

Needless to say not a drop left 👍
Alpha I have my doubts this is the first time your dog has eaten chicken. I know what you mean by “same old food all the time” but even hairy gets lobster, steak, cod or a little of anything I’m eating. I mean it’s cool you took the time to cook it and add it to his bowl I just don’t think “human food” is foreign to him. Forgive me if I’m off the mark on this.

I admit lately once in a while he will have a very small piece of leftovers but especially given his age and history that is all. It is so tempting to give him more but I really could not live with myself if something happened to him 🙁

HE?! That little lady is Juliet.

Apparently she's been using that spot for months and I never noticed. She was hoping around on the book shelf and I asked my wife what the cat was doing. My wife said she's trying to get to her spot. Had no idea.

Even the dog was impressed. I must say I like cats but I sure don't understand them.

Understood. When my dog was sick the vet always said we should feed her rice and hamburger meat (both boiled if I recall) until the illness passed, apparently it’s easy on their digestive system. It’s been a while since she passed but I remember we had to do it a number of times over the years I don’t know if that’s still a thing but I do remember she loved that concoction.

Oh sorry I know gender is a touchy subject these days. I know behaviorally cats like to find high places as it gives them a feeling of superiority looking down on their humans. Yes I read a cat psychology book. The weird places they pick that remains a mystery but I know hairys cardboard box cluttering up my living room can give her a sense of security as it limits attacks from behind and on the sides. But in the end who the hec really knows what they are thinking. Some of these theories make sense but it’s not like they can clarify things if these people who study cats get one wrong.

He looks to have fallen out of his bed. Beautiful ceiling, by the way.

There I am treating the Old Boy like a geriatric (well he is 16) - but now his arch enemy has moved he keeps getting a youthful spring in his paws. As long as I am in the area he continues to explore new territory at 'the front' which he has not done for years... this week there was even some rapid tree climbing and he survived the decent. He is starting to hunker down for winter / his ruff is in fine shape -He is a very relaxed and content cat currently and likes being king of the hill I think.

.
that reminds me of him doing 9 years ago, he can climb (another) 40 feet tree again and again at that time
he is a grumpy semi-geriatric now
