Monday was another beach hike day for Neo... he LOVES the beaches 😀

We walked from De Haan to Ostende. Once in Ostende, we need to take a small boat to cross on the other side of the city to get back by tram to De Haan again.

Here are loads of pictures from the hike!
Shoes on the beach….. it must be a European thing 🤨

I was recently visiting someone and found they have a 29 year old cat. I couldn’t take pictures as I was in their home for the first time and they were embarrassed about the state of the place so I needed to respect that of course. The cat is well cared for and has recently seen the vet. I noticed it had lost patches of fur especially around the legs a couple inches above the paws. They informed the vet told them it can be part of the aging process. I don’t want to say it made me feel better but at 24 sooper dooper has this weird thing going on with her leg fur and no matter how many times I brush her i can’t get it to look better. So I came home and asked sooper if she is going to make it to 29 years old and I let her know if she lost some fur I wouldn’t make fun of her. I’m pretty sure her look means yes she will make it to 29. The second picture is her sitting in front of me trying to get at my coffee, sooper dooper really likes coffee but only if she can drink it out of my cup.

Youngster on a day out visiting the Elan Valley https://www.elanvalley.org.uk/ although he doesn't look to happy about it 😉

I have known of these dams for many years but having now seen some images it is way up on my places to visit 👍

Edited to add for any who wonder what is on the roof of the car ? A roof box fits to these inflated rails and daughters rate it highly, obviously with the amount of kit they carry 🤦
That is an amazingly beautiful area I could spend hours just observing that area

Oh snap these things look straight up like aliens
You know these eat leaves? Except the Australian species which grow to six feet long and are carnivorous 😲

When I was a kid a near neighbour had some stick insects that were resident in a bush in the back garden, they never moved out of that bush. This was at 52deg north, so they're pretty hardy.

Oh snap I always thought they munched on bugs. Goes back to one of those nature documentaries I saw one of these buggers was eating every bug that came near him. Of course now that I think about it they didn’t mention location or if they did I have forgotten. I have been in and out all day and he has been in the same spot for hours. Looks like he/she passed through a spider web that didn’t slow it down much. If they are territorial I wonder if it is the same one that was on the back of my house when I painted my deck earlier this summer. If so he has doubled in size. Mr. Mantis is eating whatever it is he eats in abundance for now.

PS to my Australian brethren if I saw one of these that was six feet long I would run as they are pretty freaky at 4-5 inches.

I'm one who believes in quality over quantity, but the specialist said it was worth a shot. This is Blanche. Pic 1 is Immediately after surgery for metastatic cancer; Pic 2- on the mend with chemo and good food; Pic 3- outlived the original survival estimate by 4 months so far and still feeling fine.

Based on those last two pictures, it looks like she is thoroughly enjoying life. What a sweet girl. 😀

It was a hard call, but fortunately, small dogs tend to live a long time and she was otherwise in good shape. Her dad lived to be 15, so it felt like the right thing to do.

Oh u are definitely right it’s a very tough call these pets become like family members and you want to do all you can. In my brothers case his dog was a very big Rottweiler but friendly as hec. I think he went a bit too far having it’s pancreas removed, chemo and a host of other medical interventions. I think it gets to the point where you (in his case) may be causing more suffering but I understood he was hoping to save the dog because he loved it. It’s decisions no one wants to make but looks like you did the right thing and when I had my German Shepard the vet told me the same thing. He didn’t recommend getting too invasive as she was a big dog and smaller dogs tend to do better in these circumstances. I’m dealing with a cat who has cancer and at her advanced age she would not survive surgery so we are treating it with creative medications. For seven years it’s been keeping her going, I’ll keep doing so until the vet tells me she is suffering I hope you have similar fortune with your doggy.

sometimes pets are closer, as they are living with us full time sharing same daily life, while some of the human family members have already relocated far away long time ago and they are on their own way

Well, haha... You'll be surprised! People wear flipflop here as soon as temperatures reach 15°C with a bit of sun! That's 🤨 to me 😀

Below that temperature, shoes are your best friends 😀
