And yes, although 23 year old super dooper does not help with the yard work, she is still alive I boosted up her dose of steroids she seems to be holding food down much better but I need to back off on that med after several doses as it comes with some other side effects. Darn 23, never had a cat make it this long
I loved that. The video gives a better feel for how absolutely beautiful the area you are in is and as you panned the area the whole time I could hear Neo panting. Great shot, such a lovely dog of course but that is already known. I wish I got a video of hairy digging next to me as it was such a funny thing to see. Anyway thanks for the view of the Alps you are fortunate to live so close to so much of nature’s beauty.
It is overall ok, he doesn't like too rocky grounds/roads as it hurts his paws. He had a couple of time some roughness on his paws after long hikes a few years ago. So I am now very careful with him, and direct him where to walk on the paths. I ask him to follow me where I'm walking, and he does. I believe he understands and remembers, and so trusts me telling him the best way possible. All in all, it is incredible the trust he has in me, I can literally handle him the way I want. If he feels insecure at the beginning, I just tell him that it is ok, that daddy is here, and he usually relaxes. At least, let himself do. He is so sweet, he is really a part of me
Holy cow no pics in this one but interesting cat story. I was meeting with a family who were having some troubles, the mother, daughter and myself were sitting together at a small kitchen type table. They were amazed when one of their pet cats jumped on my lap and let me pat him. They said he is a very mean cat and doesn’t like strangers. They told me they are having problems with the cat as it’s claws are too long and they can’t trim them as the kitty puts up a big fight. I had to check for myself, the cat had hopped up on the table between the three of us as I tried to pick it up to test the “fight” theory the cat managed to slash all three of us. Damn not good to get new clients injured during a meeting like that. And yeah, the cat is a very good fighter I couldn’t even see what paw he got me with but he had impressive range and maneuverability with those daggers.
This is one of those sneaky undercover posts where the guy is trying to sell a watch, except you are adopting out kittens. We are onto you! Oh, and DIBS!
Gotta tell you I’m used to kittens being spazzes but it took me six tries to get this one pic as he would be looking at me all cute, I’d go to snap a pic and he would would almost tele-transport to another area, including climbing up my back. If these people asked me to take him cause they were worried about food cost and medical care I would have a very difficult time not taking him. I’m am very glad I wasn’t around when the neighbor showed up with a box full of his brothers and sisters cause how the hec do you say no to that face?
Risk assessment is not his strong point… and he is way too over confident with my deck chair erection abilities. He soon gets too warm anyway and goes to melt on the cool kitchen floor. Storm clouds gathered later when his on-off crush and territory rival arrived… they are still working things out in the cat way (lots of staring, sitting / occasional chasing and grumpy resignation). They can stand being within 10 metres … social distancing is not an issue for them... I think she actually likes the old boy :0) .
So this is a quick snap shot of a day in the life with hairy. My alarm is set for 6a usually she sits and watches me get up and my first task of day is feeding her. Today she was inpatient so at 5:40a she did that incredibly annoying meowing and walking on me thing. At 6:30am she snuck outside. 7am I want to head out for work and this animal with acute hearing that can hear a cat food can pop open across a friggin football field suddenly goes deaf and won’t come in or turn around as I plead for her to come in so I can go to work. She briefly flicked one ear when I shook the bag of cat treats but I’m 85% sure she just enjoys pissing me off. I got mad, shut the door walked away then she decides she can come in. I hate to tell you how many times she gets me with this one and yes she remains statue like looking the opposite direction as I call her. She can hear me fine, this is a sick cruel game she teases me with.
Omg I got this email from my vet wishing sooper dooper a happy birthday. That means Sooper Dooper is now 24 years old. Damn I thought she just turned 23 but I know my vets records are accurate Dear Jim, We wanted to reach out and wish Superduper a very happy birthday!! It is such a pleasure to be your veterinarian. We hope today can be sweetened with a treat for this big day and that all birthday wishes come true. Thank you for letting us be a part of your healthcare team and we look forward to seeing you for your next wellness exam. Happy Birthday! Edit: I just told her she doesn’t seem to care
The Old Boy (just 16) feels like a young whipper snapper now in comparison.. and sends Superduper a happy birthday.
Thanks, I really don’t know, nor does my vet, what is keeping superdooper going. She was diagnosed with some type of cancer at 17, went deaf at 18, I’m pretty sure she is 90% blind but she can out figures she just doesn’t know who is who. She has this damn cold thing, probably feline herpes, I keep treating her with anti biotics but it keeps coming back. I hook her up to an IV 4-6 times a week, she looks like a reck tbh I brush her and stuff but she just ain’t feeling any self grooming these days. I had to put her “brother” down at 14 years old he was a big healthy cat that got a tumor and went from a very happy health overweight cat to no longer being with us in about 3.5 weeks. I am baffled by sooper dooper I’m not complaining of course but technically, and this is the vets words no mine, “this cat should not be alive, I gave her six months to live 7 years ago.”
Neo is really enjoying his time in the Alps, and handling the daily hikes quite well, so far We had a couple of days of on and off rain, but we managed to go out walking every day. And when needed, Neo was very patient to stay in the tent, relaxing. He is being really a nice company... My better half too btw!
