A burst of summer in the week and straight away the old boy was back in his sunshine spot waiting for breakfast outside. Looking very regal and not doing too badly for 80 (15). I hope I can still jump fences at that age. A few extra pounds maybe but it comes to the best of us. Back to wet and windy today. He is not so regal or very accommodating when I am trying to get back in bed for a lazy start to the weekend.
I seem to have adopted a baby seal overnight …. . In terms of hunting this old boy really does not bother anymore for birds (as demonstrated by the morning feed) - they hop around him. I am sure if one came within a paw length he would be tempted- but they are not that stupid. Mice / rats are a different matter but we have not seen any for a long while, so he is still earning his corn I guess.
Our feeder is in a pretty sheltered are, just outside the kitchen window. Some harmonious snacking going on in this photo...
I couldn't get them all in one photo, but we counted 26 Blue Jays, the most we've had at any given time. The squirrel and the bunny didn't seem to mind having them around, but the chipmunks that are usually there found it all a bit too much.
Of course we are cat free here, and Remi our older Whippet has never had much of a hunting instinct. Maeve the female though would be all over these if she had the chance.
