·I was hiking in Umbria - Piano Grande a few years back. Some Maremano mountain dogs came to check us out. Super friendly and clever confident / easy going dogs. These live wild a lot of the time with the flocks. I think if we had upset the sheep or the shepherd we might have seen a different side. I really got to like Mountain dogs from that trip.
In one of the wilderness areas that I visit frequently, we often run into Great Pyrenees dogs living with flocks of sheep that are grazing in the high mountains. I have no photos of them because I am generally trying to move on quickly without triggering them. They are not friendly at all. When we see the shepherds, they also have Border Collies with them, and those dogs are nice.
