Thanks - we have seriously considered going raw, as a few friends we know have done it with good results. The only thing that bothers me is the potential for a bacterial infection of some kind from raw food. Maeve our younger dog could probably handle it, but Remi would not likely do very well with such a thing.
Should you do it, surely implement any meal plan with your vet. This is how we did it for Neo 2 years ago (he was 6 or so when he started eating raw) with specific dietary guidance from our vet.

Neo loves chicken and we were also stressed about bacterias, things like salmonella etc... Vet told us that dog's stomach are 5x more acid than human ones, and so killed most of them. On top of it, certain vegetables can be more "dangerous"/sensitive than others for dogs, sometimes it might vary from raw versus cooked.

Voilà, it is I'm any case, an interesting option for our 4 legged family members.

It does require some meal preparation organisation that takes a couple of weeks to get it all set up. Seems a lot at the beginning, but becomes so straightforward afterwards.

Girls night out it seems 😀

Yes. Hot summer so didn’t get out as often as we would have liked. They were joyriding in my sons car lol. He drives with a remote control and they love it.

It's actually our vet that has cautioned us against it.

Happy days in the mad house today.
Some months ago Pecks ex girlfriend attacked him and we thought he had lost an eye. We were so certain we were just about to get him an eyepatch. However when we had him out this morning we noticed that the skin flap that was over where his eye should be was loose and you could see a good eye underneath. A little bit of gentle surgery by my wife and he now has two functioning eyes.
His demeanour today is the best it has been for months, obviously a happy boy.

What he now calls his bad side. I am sure the feathers will grow back.

At his insistence a shot from his good side. Who's a pretty boy😀

Celebratory tipple with the old man. It appears that he likes bourbon and coke as well as beer😁

So one of our dogs, Remi the older one, has Cushing's disease. He has been on medication for this for a couple of years now, and he's gone downhill pretty fast recently. He was not eating well, and was so weak at times that I had to help him stand up if he was laying down, so it wasn't looking good.

My wife took him to the vet and it turned out he was having a bout of Pancreatitis, so he went on some meds for that, and they also suggested we change his dog food. Two options were given, and one was vegetarian, and that turned out to be the only one we could get quickly. So we put him on that, and the change has been dramatic. He was getting very grey and looking old, but his hair is growing back in darker. He is eating well, can get up on his own fine, and has actually become playful again, something he hasn't been since this all started a couple of years ago.

His snout was almost completely white a month ago...now dark hair growing back in...

No doubt calming down the Pancreatitis made him feel better, but now we are wondering if there's been something in the various foods we have been giving him that he's been allergic to. Had him back for a test of cortisol levels to check to make sure the medication for the Cushing's is working, and the levels have dropped dramatically, so we are now cutting back on that medication. The vet does think that there may be some allergic reaction involved, so we'll keep him on this food, and hopefully he will be able to get off these other meds completely at some point. We were really wondering if we were going to have to put him down it was that bad, and he's done a complete 180...so some good news for us, and him!

Glad to hear about the turn around. Let's hope it continues!

All I need now is coyote in the backyard

Nah, you don't want to deal with all the TNT that would involve, or possibly a stray falling anvil.

I was guessing most of the furiners would not understand a Wiley Coyote reference. Thanks for the add on reply.

Well, this was the dog that not long ago could barely go 1/2 a block to do his business, and that we had to help get up from a laying position...

Took this yesterday. 👍

Maeve is in the background eating grass mostly...she is not good at playing fetch. Steals the ball and just runs away. 🤦

Timmy watching TV intently. None of the other dogs care or look at the TV.
Timmy watches for animals or little kids. A dog on TV and he is up and giving it a bark. Watches horses and cows or big animals with much interest.
Anyone else have TV watching dog?

They all have shitzu in them. Some more than others.
In the picture there are two mothers, two sisters, 3 daughters, 1 grandmother. I’ll leave the relationships to your imagination.
All the dogs are from people that didn’t want them once they “grew up”
There are 6 more that didn’t go for walk.

One of mine loves watching tv, the other three can take it or leave it. Here she is on a road trip, we stayed overnight at some place for a quick nap and she was happy watching tv.

She barks at most tv dogs and commercials. For some reason the dog on the Target commercial always irritates her and boy oh boy does she bark within a nanosecond of when the commercial starts, even before the dog appears on screen. One of her favorite things is to sit next to my toddler and watching his kids shows with him...go figure they love old Tom and Jerry reruns!
