Superdooper my 20.5 year old cat has been going down hill. After a recent visit to the vet here are the meds she takes. I don’t know if any of you have had to IV a cat yet but it can be difficult. The IV is just to keep her hydrated I usually give her 10ml from the bag a day the other meds are daily B-12 shots and a liquid steroid. I also had her on a chemo type drug but they are 60 bucks a pill, i get them at a human pharmacy and we are going on two years of this sort of thing so we cut out the pill and hoping this regime will work. I thought she was only 19.5 but the vet corrected me I missed a year good thing I didn’t buy her a birth year watch, she would have been upset.

That's gotta be tough. Every time we have a sick pet we do everything we can like you, and when they pass we swear no more pets but then we break our vow.

We went through a similar regiment last year , kidney failure not cancer though, with our then 21 yr old cat. Hardest thing to do give an IV line subcutaneously to your cat.
Did not help in our case as the kidneys have up. Basically just a year from today.
Good luck!!!!!!

You are a dedicated cat parent. We have done sub-q fluids for our cat. I wish you the best with her.

So, the other night my wife was telling me about a particular breed of cat that she has fallen in love with. Me, no way, no more cats we have enough already plus all the other pets and anyway Ziggy would get all out of shape.
Long story short, this little lady should be with us by the end of the week🥰
Maybe @Alpha is familiar with the brand, Scottish Fold.

Sorry about the quality of the pics, they were lifted from a proof of life video. Will take some cute ones when we have her😀

P.S. It looks like her name will be Bonny

The little gray kitten just above this post is going to up the cute game considerably for the rest of us cat owners.

Great shots of so many dogs, one in particular from Fragglerock this time. Just the dog's head in the shot. And always great shots of the black pug.

The cat IVs...can't even imagine but I'm sorry you and your cats are experiencing any of it. That kind of pain is one of the great reminders of our humanity and mortality.

Pensive look

concerned

hopeful

my favorite thing she does... always in the morning she just jumps up with paws outstretched

Cute specimen. There are a lot of pure bred cats that interest me. I’ve always liked the Maine Coon. I’ve looked around in the past thinking of getting one but whenever I do someone ends up holding a free mutt kitten asking me if I want it, the cat meows and I say OK. Maybe one day I’ll make it to a Maine coon without such distraction

I suspect that they do understand a lot of what we say, I talk to my boys often and the young boy in particular understands much of what I say with the exception of 'come' and 'leave' etc. 😀
I have quite the in-depth talks with my new little buddy... he's a puppy, and I'm not sure we understand each other well on any front yet, but there are moments he's a great listener anyhow.
🥰

Sometimes he looks up at me quizzically...

Sometimes he joins me during my chores and I speak to him constantly...

And I've even set him up on a milk crate in the passenger seat of my car when I take the occasional drive around town to keep myself sane during isolation... Hard for him to stay awake, but he pretends to listen at least...

Lovely looking cat 👍
I'm not a cat person but I know there has been a lot of controversy in the UK regarding their breeding and the 'Governing Council of Cat Fancy' no longer registers them. Having said that this is only what I have read in the media ? and I tend to take most of it with a pinch of salt 😀

Thank you for the kind comments regarding superdooper and her medical problems. Oddly that IV needle is like a big dagger but doesn’t seem to bother her as much as the little needle for the B-12. I might be able to introduce the B-12 into the IV port but if I do it by myself it will be too difficult, my wife doesn’t like holding her down. I saw Larry mention his cat with kidney failure it’s sad stuff, after an expensive blood test I found all of superdoopers functions are normal but she is losing weight. If I can’t get her weight to stabilize I will need to put her down.

I think most everyone who posts here has been through these situations it’s a sad part of owning a pet but everyone here has provided and is providing a good life for their furry friends all we can do is enjoy their company while we can and the rest will happen as it will.

We already have other cats as I eluded to. Two are brothers and are Norwegian Forest cats which I guess are the Scandinavian equivalent of a Maine Coon. They are brilliant cats and would recommend to anyone.
Tommy is my wife's although my daughter seems to have kidnapped him and Ziggy is mine. Ziggy is definitely my boy, he is like a dog always waiting for me to come home and always near me when I am home. I will have to be very careful with him and the new one making sure that I do not show Bonny too much attention.

Tommy with Peck(Gregory Peck) our Parrotlet.

and Ziggy who has commandeered my chair in the man cave.
