That is not the point. Squirrels don't eat them all straight away but bury the nuts as a supply. And peanuts then rot very quickly.

Not these guys. Eat them all in minutes and leave the shells.

Walnuts, pecans and hazelnuts are the best to feed them. I like peanuts best for myself anyhow. A.I. agrees with bsowers34.

Maybe the squirrels don`t eat them right away, just fill their cheeks and bury them later. Or maybe since they have a secure food source, just gulp them down. I feed hazel nuts to "my" squirrels.
