@larryganz looks like you've sorted entertainment for the day

Presents created super zoomies which resulted in a wrecked rug and broken filing unit.
Winning at Christmas so far .

My son adopted a paralyzed-from-the-midsection-down dog this year. She even made "cover girl" for a pet calendar for 2020. They have been very good for each other!

What a happy looking little dog! I would imagine there鈥檚 some extra baggage that come with an animal like that, so it would take a dedicated owner to have such a critter, good for him.

besides having a happy dog he does now have the only pet in town that can be fitted with alloy wheels...

or knobbies...

or a nice set of track compound Michelins.

All these new toys and all he wants to do is eat wrapping paper.

Cooper was always much more interested in the boxes than what was in them.

Indeed ... twice daily "expressing" among other things. He's totally hooked, though.

I'll pass along the tire suggestions 馃榾

My best walking buddy turned eight yesterday. Unfortunately this will most likely be his last. His poor heart is about to give out. The vet gave him about three months a month ago. Will just love him and make sure he is comfortable till the end.

What a beauty he his, let's hope he beats the odds.

Christmas started out lovely but didn鈥檛 end well for Zelda as she got sliced up pretty badly by my skis. It was a panicky feeling when I first saw all the blood and the deep cuts, but Zelda was completely unfazed by it and ran a couple of miles back to the trailhead like nothing was wrong, leaving a trail of blood. They are so incredibly tough.

Fortunately, my wife was with me and was able to keep pressure on the wounds as we searched for an emergency vet on Christmas Day in a small mountain town. Thanks to Dr. Tess and nine staples, Zelda will be ok and back to her usual mischief soon.

However, unless I can train her to give me more space, I will have to stop taking her skiing, which would be a shame since she loves it so much. I鈥檓 really not eager to repeat this experience.

Very sorry to hear about the accident. But, as you witnessed, dogs have a different take on injury and pain than humans. There is likely a learning in this for Zelda, and she will stay clear of you skis in the future. It would be a shame for her to miss out on an activity she enjoys with. Take her out again when she heals and see how it goes. Merry Christmas to you and yours....rest easy, Zelda.

Sorry to hear this, but yeah, it may be the "painful" life lesson she needs to stay out of the way now. Hope she heals fast, and so glad she took it like a champ!

First real Christmas for Frank, who had his tiny mind blown and horded his toys all day before completely vanishing.
After a bit of a search, we found his new snoozing place is now underneath the dog throw on the sofa. Relief and potential disaster averted.

Thanks the good thoughts, and suggestions. I will probably give it another try, to be honest. But I'm worried that she didn't learn much of a lesson. She's extremely impulsive in general, and I'm not sure she felt much pain at the time that it happened.

This type of accident is apparently extremely common here, so much so that they have a shorthand name for it at the vet, "cut-by-ski". As in, "Yesterday was a busy day, we had three vomiting-and-diarreahs and two cut-by-skis".

Sorry, sounds like she's on the mend 馃榾 and likely will back on the trail again soon!
