Yesterday we went to what the organizers called "Whippet Festivus" for a gathering of Whippets and their owners for some fun time running around inside a barn at the fairgrounds. We left Remi at home since he's not had all his vaccinations due to his other health issues, but Maeve had some fun. It was cold in there so we started with a light coat on (maple leaf themed) and in the first clip at about 5 seconds in, you can see she is pretty excited...

She sometimes does those 360's in the house too...

After she warmed up the coat came off and she had a blast running around with the other dogs. Mostly Whippets there, but a few Italian Greyhounds too, along with a few Galgos. Overall the dogs and owners were well behaved, and only a few minor dog tussles happened that I saw. I did see one lady hit the dirt after getting hit by a dog, and I had a close call when 2 Whippets went blasting by us at full speed, missing my legs by mm's...we had all had enough by then but I will say not wanting to have my knees taken out was a factor in our decision to call it a day. Maeve pretty much slept the rest of the day...

BTW for the record there was no Festivus pole, no feats of strength (other than the dogs running around), and no airing of grievances, but it was a nice day out regardless.

Looks like great fun! I made the mistake of playing the video with the sound turned on ... Zelda got pretty riled up hearing the barking and tags jingling. She is still looking around for the dogs.

Krazy Kat update....just back from the vet....diagnosis was a major blood clot cutting off blood flow to his hind quarters resulting in paralysis....the decision was made to put the little guy down....at least he didn’t die alone outside in freezing weather...he allowed himself to be petted and stroked, and did his best to meow, no hissing or spitting. We’ll miss the little guy.
Just caught up on your very sad yet very beautiful KrazyKat story. I shed some tears for KrazyKat and the beautiful compassionate @allwoundup that loved and cared for him. Thank you!

My son adopted a paralyzed-from-the-midsection-down dog this year. She even made "cover girl" for a pet calendar for 2020. They have been very good for each other!

What a great boy, sadly so many give up on wonderful dogs/animals simply because they don’t conform to the stereotype👍

Unfortunately my mother has Alzheimer’s. Fortunately it is progressing slowly and she has many good days. I’m still able to bring her to my home to stay with us on the holidays. The reason I bring this up is in regards to her cat, I had to bring her cat to my place when we moved my mother to a facility. When I brought this hairy beast home it took a solid 4 months until she chilled out, stopped hiding and became my best buddy. After all these years, probably about five, whenever I bring my mother here this cat completely forgets about me and is all over my mother. I find it quite interesting, who knows what goes on between the ears of these little beasts of the field we have in our home but hairy the cat remembers
