I’d suspect it’s put together. Bezel looks to be a Rolex style, and with a Monnin France dial would anticipate a FE Quartz movement. Some early Monnin Quarts had ESA movements such as ESA 9263 or 9362. Seems off that it would have ETA.
Having had a dig around I’d say it’s pretty similar to the 980.xxx series. The 980.006N shares the ETA 955.114 movement and the 980.013L has a similar submariner style bezel.
Both the models you reference are Swiss made Heuer/Tag Heuer, with Swiss dials and Swiss movements. The watch you showed has a Monnin style made in France dial, Swiss movement and Rolex style bezel insert. It shares a resemblance, as I suspect the person who put it together was aiming for that. If it was a late 70's/early 80's Monnin, it would either have an FE quartz or ESA quartz as noted. It would also have the proper bezel - all be it it could have been replaced at some point, but its still incorrect. There are no share of fake dialed Heuer Monnin's out there, and it's not entirely surprising given they go $3-$3.5K for a authentic one. Scammers try and take advantage of this (as with many popular watches) and either put together Franken's or out right fakes to sell. Always best to consult opinions prior to purchasing any piece you may be unsure of.

I received one of those for my 16th birthday. It was made in France and has the cathedral hour hand, which was later updated to the Mercedes hand. It's been serviced, but everything is original, with the exception of the crown. Mine is number 6069, so I believe it could be one of the prototypes. It runs well and keeps excellent time to this day.
P pieuxHello Guys,
can anybody help me?
I’ve found that watch in my grandfathers drawer that seems to be a Monnin 844.
But I have never seen a dial like that one.
Is it a genuine/original watch, or a redial/fake?
i hope so much someone can help me with my struggle.

Hi, I don't think this started life as a Heuer but another brand 844. (Of which there are many.) The dial is refinished and while the case is the same used across this type, the caseback isn't one used by Heuer.
If you look under a strong light at a certain angle, you MAY be able to make out another name on the dial.
Thanks, Steve
case is ok
