··Cajuns and Gators can't read newspapers!WTS: Heuer Autavia 2446C Mark 1 - "Hour" Bezel, Original GF Double Beads of Rice Bracelet w/ HLB End Links
Price: [$12,500] shipped CONUS / OBO - buyer covers international shipping and any duties
I'm paring down a collection that's grown a bit out of control (aren't they all), and this Autavia is one of a few pieces heading out.
The watch
This is a Mark 1 example of the Heuer Autavia ref. 2446C - the classic three-register, manually-wound chronograph on the Valjoux 72, in the compressor-style snap-back case (~40.8mm, 20mm lug width). I acquired it directly from the son of the original owner, who inherited it after his father's passing.
(Serial No. 109XXX , c. 1968/69)
Why this one stands out:
Condition / Service History
Serviced by my watchmaker in 2015; it's lived in a safe for most of the time since. Because that service is now 11 years old, I'm selling it as-is - no fresh warranty implied. That said, it runs and keeps time, and the chronograph starts, stops, and resets correctly.
Included: watch on the HLB bracelet. No box or papers.
Additional photos (dial close-up, caseback, bracelet end links, movement shot) available on request - happy to answer any questions or do a video call to look it over before you commit.

Why this one stands out:
- Early Mark 1 example only produced for 1 year
- Bezel: Fitted with the "H" (hour) bezel - the rarest of the three 2446C bezel variants (minute, tachymeter, and hour), originally intended as a second-time-zone/GMT-style indicator. Far less common than the minute or tachy versions you typically see.
- Bracelet: Original Gay Frères "double beads of rice" bracelet with HLB-marked end links. These are notoriously hard to find intact and correct - most were swapped out or lost decades ago.
- Case: Unpolished lugs - still fat, sharp, and full
- Caseback: light wear and scratches consistent for its age. Logo engravings fully intact and crisp
