Help with this 166.024

Hi all, hoping the collective wisdom of the forum can help with this one. I am looking at this 166.024. I am told that it is an original that has been fully refurbished by a certified Omega watchmaker (new dial, hand, service bracelet, etc.). The listing price is close to U.S. $10k, which seems high …but not a deal killer if it is indeed original. My concern, though is that it could be a watchco (or parts build with a donor movement). Seller is representing it as original but does not know history of the watch. if this is a watchco or parts build, then the price is a total dealbreaker. Any advice on this one? Seller provides a certificate of authenticity, but not really sure what that means since watchco could be considered “authentic” too. I don’t have pics of the movement but am told it is caliber 565 that has been serviced.

Looks like a service case to me - that case back is too crisp. Thus, I doubt it is original. And that price is way too high for a Watchco 300.

Ask for a picture of the inside of the case back. Original will be 165.024 but service ones will be 165.0024.

thanks for the correction. As soon as I typed that, I thought it was wrong, but I was doing it from my phone.

Only way to know if it is an original Seamaster 300 movement is to get an extract.

Price is too high either way.

Thanks, but these days everything is going for a premium. I can’t find a 166.0324 watchco for less than $6 to $7k

I can point you to more than a few original 165.024s in that price range...
