Hi people,

I'm new here and would like some help in identifying this Omega and what it might be worth.

I'm considering buying this blind off the net. All the seller knows is it's a 50s ex presentation mechanical omega that comes with a box.

No idea of caliber no and cannot take the back case off.

Any ideas would be great regarding model, price etc

Welcome to the forum.

For a first buy, it’s always ideal to have some good pictures. It’s a bit tricky to gauge the watch otherwise.

That said, on this example the dial looks terrible. That alone is a no go on my opinion.

What excites you about this watch exactly? People can help you with a few reference you could then study and chase good examples of.

Thanks theluckyluke.

I suppose it's wanting to get my first omega rather than anything else. It's on sale for £350.

Good to get your feedback my friend.

I've certainly got a lot to learn.

Have a look at the private sale section here. Much safer for a first transaction.

Have a look at the learn how to fish thread, and perhaps keep an eye on the WRUW thread to get some ideas of the style that really appeals to you.

If you want to get some thrills on eBay, have a look at the recommended watches on eBay thread at the top of the vintage section, the team is often putting links to entry level omegas in the US and UK.

If you want help with a purchase, please try to post comprehensive information and high resolution, in-focus photos from various angles. That said, you can safely pass on the OP watch and move on.

What kind of Omega are you thinking you'd like to get? I understand the rush to get the first one, but I'd wait a little. If you really like the small seconds subdial, there are some great options, but you will want to look a little more.

Thanks for the advice. I just find them so attractive, esp the dials and brass/copper movements in them. I'll keep my eye out and take my time. Thanks for taking the time to reply.
