Help with swapping Speedmaster Delrin brake for metal part (cal. 1861)

Can someone actually confirm that these two metal parts (part 1818 and 1726) for the cal 860 (not 861) are drop in replacements for the delrin parts in the cal 1861? I too am going for an exhibition case back, don’t want the plastic but also don’t want the overly decorated 1863 parts.

Maybe @Archer can advise me?

Just re-read this interesting post. If I’m reading you correctly, the 1818 and 1726 will replace the plastic blocking lever in an 860 and 1861 cal. But not an 861? Would you know the metal parts for that caliber? Thanks.

Here are some photos to show people the difference in the stopping levers that exist Incase it helps anyone -

The first picture is of a 1861 with the Delrin part (from the internet)

This next picture is of my 1861 (exactly the same as the movement above, it just looks a bit different due to lighting and my poor photography skills) which did have a Delrin lever but the Omega service center swapped it to a 861 metal part at my request because I was using an aftermarket display case back.

And this final picture is of a 1863 movement where you can see how the overall finish of the movement and the stopping lever both have a sort of "brushed" grain type finish to them with streak lines, which is different to the more "speckled" look the metal has on the 1861 movement.

Can someone tell me if the plastic parts have already been swapped out for metal on this cal. 861? Thanks.

Is the stopping lever actually difference in appearance between an 861, 1861 and 1863?

It's been a few years since I changed mine from Delrin to metal in my 1861 and helped a few people in this thread so my memory is a bit hazy.

All I really remember was the guy in the Omega service center said to me that they didn't have any 1863 levers currently but had an 861 one - because I was asking to compare the two in appearance before swapping out the Delrin so we ended up just putting the 861 part in there.

Is there actually a 1863 lever with a higher level of finishing/decoration like people keep saying?

Yes, both steel parts are decorated in the 1863.

Thanks, I actually edited that post and decided to pull the back off my Speedmaster and take a photo to compare it to some movement photo's off the internet (above post).

Does it look like on mine (attached photo) they actually used the correct lever part to match the rest of the 1861 movement?

Looks to be steel Bob, you can see an oil stain which you wouldn't see on a delrin blocking lever.

Sorry to revive the thread but currently planning the same change.

I’ve found a 320 1818 and 1040 1726 at a better price than 860/861 listings. To my (very) untrained eye they look the same but would very much appreciate confirmation.

Nope. You need the specific part numbers mentioned.

Thanks! The 320 movement 1818 was particularly cheap so I nearly jumped on it, so glad I checked!

I’ll keep looking for 860/861 specific 1818 + 1726 👍

Tom was pretty amazing (little known fact, SkunkPrice and VetPsychWars were the same person, he came back a changed man with a new outlook on life, pity it was taken from us so soon thereafter.)
