Hello all. I have an Omega that was my father’s. I can’t identify the model. I wasn’t sure it was real or not to be honest (the strap definitely isn’t).

I took it into a local Omega centre who sent it off to Omega for repair. Turns out it is genuine, but it’s too old for them to repair (parts are obsolete). I’m sure it’s not hugely valuable, but it has great sentimental value to me.

Is there somewhere that specialises in repairing watches like this? Any help would be much appreciated, thanks. image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg

Omega no longer has the crown. This is at least one reason why they won't work on the watch. The crown size and shape really make that watch.

Crowns can be rebuilt - there's a gasket tucked up inside. If you give the group an idea of your location in the world a recommendation can be made.

Your crystal needs replacement too. That will make the watch appear much improved. I have one of those - albeit without the date - and really enjoy it.

    Welcome to OF,

This appears to be an Omega Genève Admiralty, case number 166.038 (1660038). As noted the original crown is discontinued, but Omega does have a replacement available (069ST42242), so the lack of an original crown is not likely why whoever you took it to is refusing to service it.

This would have a Cal. 565 inside, and all parts are available for this movement, and all parts are available for the case. About the only thing that isn't available is the dial. Not sure who exactly you took it to, but the idea that parts are obsolete and no longer available is certainly not correct.

    Cheers, Al

Thanks for the quick response and the welcome to the forum!

I am in Bristol in the UK.

If there’s no one near here that is recommended, am happy to send it off to the right place.
