Hi! Can anyone tell me anything about this watch. A relative of mine gave it to me to see what it's worth etc. After opening it I know the reference, caliber and rough year but thats it. Even with the ref. I could not find even a single picture of the same watch anywhere. Any additional information would be appreciated!

Nice piece - looks like an uncommon dial variation. Definitely haven't seen too many like it!

Apart from some scratches to the case that is a very clean example and looks 100% original. The textured dial is particularly nice and it's the kind of watch and condition to appeal to collectors. If selling, it should be sold as is and nothing done to it. At a rough guess on ebay UK it could make around £600. It's a classy watch and if there is any sentimental value at all it would be well worth servicing (but by an independent watchmaker, NOT Omega) and keeping.

Is no one but me seeing the evidence of redail? Note how the 10 marker is different? The S in Seamaster is not usual? The lettering in "Omega Automatic" is a bit wobbly?

To my knowledge it should be 100% original. I'm not seeing how the 10 marker is different? The S and lettering I can't comment on because I haven't dealt with many vintage omegas before so I don't really have a reference point. My relative who owns the watch said that the watch was bought by his father in the late 1950's and has been lying in a box pretty much untouched since the late 1960's.

After staring at the large version I can see that there is a shadow there that looked like a pointed marker.

The lettering still looks wonky to me.

I am not sure if it's just the angle of the image but shouldn't the AML be symmetrically bisected by the cross hair? Looks off to me.

I've been staring at the cross hair going through the applied logo. It seems off center to me. But so many do unless the photo is dead-straight

There are some shadows on my original photo so I tried to take a better one straight and with no shadows.

Ahh, thank you for that! Scratches on the crystal are also getting in the way. It will clean up nicely 🥰

I have a waffle dialed Seamaster like that and the lettering isn’t perfect- just like that. Remember this isn’t a perfectly flat surface so there will be slight jags in the text. The crystal should look like clear glass after a wet sand- nothing looks too deep to polish out.
Lovely watch

Much better replaced, don't you think? Stronger, tighter seal, sort of necessary for water resistance... not that you'll go swimming, per se, but safer.
