1960’s Seamaster advice

Have been doing some research on, and trying to find a 1960s Seamaster. Generally was pretty set on getting something with steel case, gold markers, and no date or sub seconds, the seamaster hippocampus (?) on the back, and Arabic applied numerals (but not a dealbreaker). Ideally one of the 50x or 28x cal movements.

Am intrigued by this one and this guy has shared this and another the fit most of my criteria, but the last had a less desirable patina. Generally have been steering clear of patina but I do like the burst in this one.

Just looking for any guidance, or advice on this watch or the general search. Both watches from this guy have been around $400-500, and I am trying to keep it under $500, so I understand I’m not getting anything flawless. I do like the history of these watches and like the idea of a watch that old still working. It seems consensus is that $500 is too much for anything with patina, is it possible to hit something without a patina for that price?

I saw someone say most any watch bought on eBay will need service? Would a service be able to fix a watch that someone says is not working?

Typically, such watches will need a service and, typically, a service will be able to make them work well again. However, this process could become very expensive - easily to the point of doubling what you initially paid for the watch.

For the price you're after, your options are fairly limited. However, I would try to find something that has been recently serviced (as the watch for sale on the Forum looks to have been), if possible.
