Help with 167.005

Hi everyone,

I have lurked here for a while but am still very new to vintage Omegas and this is my first time posting. I'm looking at 167.005 Constellations and found one I like. From my (very) limited knowledge and other threads on here I think everything checks out, but I’d love some extra opinions on its authenticity and whether things look correct.

The advert dates it to 1963 which matches the 203XXXXX serial number on the movement. It comes on a 1037/29 BOR with 70 end links, which I think this thread (https://omegaforums.net/threads/168-005-bor-bracelet-question.94131/) suggests is 'correct' - or at least valid?

I’ve attached some detailed photos of the dial, movement, caseback, and bracelet for reference. Any feedback on its originality, or any issues I'm missing, would be greatly appreciated.

Looking forward to learning from you all. Thanks in advance for your help!

The condition of those upper lugs would bother me too much to enjoy the watch.

Thanks guy. Sounds like a pass then. I'll continue looking for a better example and try to learn more in the meantime.

Cheers.

IMO the dial may be been remade with the hour markers glued to the dial (looks at hour markers 12, 1, 5, 6, 8), relume. If hour markers have black paint and lume then the hands should also get black paint and lume. That’s my opinion but we need more clear photos and maybe to take the dial out to be sure about that.

This watch, as our friends from over the pond might say, is a hot mess.

The missing bezel has been mentioned already, as have the soft lugs.

A dogleg, unlike the later hidden crown constellations, shouldn't have index inserts and lume.
The lack of Ts on the dial suggest that the dial has been customised with lume and lumed hands.
I'm not sure the dial has been 'remade' - that would be an awful lot of effort to go to - chances are its just corrosion on the indices.

The crown hs been replaced and I'm not sure its a correct replacement.

The issues don't stop there though:
The biggest problem is that it has a circa '63/'64 movt and black painted inserts on the dial indices, which of course didn't arrive on doglegs until the late 60s

Definitely one to let go......

All lumed-dial Constellations from 1963 I could find have the "T" marking on the dial, this one doesn't have this

I think I see a bezel on the second photo, but of course that doesn’t change the overall “ hot mess” assessment

I wasn’t sure at first either but the dogleg bezel doesn’t have a step in it (as seen here)
