Also, I got it to wind, chrono works, but resets to about 1 second instead of straight up. Guessing this is all just signs of lack of service.

When you own it, post a bunch of photos and we will answer all your questions. Don't try to open it, don't inspect the bracelet code, don't worry about how it resets. Just buy it. Take it from someone who has been there, these deals can sour quickly. All it takes is for someone to come by while you're at the bank and offer $4k in cash.

At that price you’ll still be way ahead after paying for a comprehensive service.

Bank just opened. In line. Fingers crossed. Apparently it’s been there since Thursday. Found it yesterday

Ok?! Absolutely awesome. If it’s got dust and dreams for a movement you’re still ahead.

Congrats - love those stories. Really gets me excited, even as a mere reader. 😀 Listen to the advice here for the next steps regarding a sympathetic service. Invest in a good service. You’ll end up with a spectacular watch at an absolute bargain price. And worst comes to worst, you don’t end up liking it, you’ll still end up ahead. Significantly so. Well done!

Great find... awesome.

To quantify your great buy, just take a look at Speedmaster101 price guide. Assuming the watch is a 145.022-69 and it's in good condition.
5K just for the watch head, and the original 1039 bracelet would easily bring in another 1k to 1.5k.
Do the math... you did good.

Thanks! New to the Omega world. I've been eying a Speedy for years, but never could 'justify' a new one. I think this is a fun way to get into the community. Everyone here has been great so for and I really appreciate the guidance and warm welcome.

Right now, I have a few Tissot's from my college years, a 1964 Bulova Spaceview Accutron, and a 126710BLRO Rolex GMT. That was my first real nice watch I got (extremely) lucky at an AD back in 2019.

Thank you! I need to deep dive on servicing. I'm happy to pay for Omega to do it, I just don't know how they handle older watches and keeping them original. I assume I can send it in and just ask for movement work with no other replacements... but maybe it's worth going to a reputable shop around me. Going to research that some more now.

That is one heck of a first Omega…congrats! I’d recommend having a reputable watchmaker who is experienced servicing vintage Speedmasters work on it rather than sending it to Swatch/Omega.
