HELP! Speedmaster 1863 Winds but gets "Stuck"

Hi All,

My Wife bought me this Speedy as a gift brand new from the AD. I do not wear it often at all and recently I noticed that after winding it the watch was stuck for lack of a better word. The wheels were not turning and the second hand was not moving. I gave a very gentle tap on the back and everything started functioning.

The watch has always kept time and doesn't wind down prematurely. Nonetheless, I am concerned about the issue and wonder how serious it is. The watch is still under warranty.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Bobby

Are you fully winding it until the crown can no longer be wound?

Yes. Fully wound and nothing. Only after that gentle tap on the back of the watch with my finger did it start running. So far it's happened twice since I have had the watch.

I've had a few watches over the years that might need a slight wag to get them starting after winding, I never thought much about it. If your watch runs well for the stated length of time I'm not sure why you would want to send it in for warranty service, you'll be without it for awhile since they are backlogged. You have three years left on the warranty, why not keep an eye on it and see if the problem gets worse? Otherwise just wear and enjoy it, it is running to spec.
