Should there also be an accompanying engravement/stamp saying if it is gold-filled or solid gold?

Normally the gold filled ones has a stamp saying "14K GOLD FILLED" while solid gold watches have hallmarks according to the country of origin. On Swiss watches it will be two hallmarks on the case, normally on the rear of the lugs, showing the gold content. Note that those rules change according to the year of production as wel...

All gold filled cases are locally made, AFAIK.

Solid gold cases have different markings according to the laws of the country of production.
