Hi, I have the option on either of these Speedy Moonwatches. Both are about $7500 each. Let me know what you think!

Can you add photos showing the watches from both sides, movement photos with serial numbers, and inside caseback shots?

All things being equal, a step-dial -71 with flat-link bracelet and stamped papers is obviously more desirable. It's hard to see why the two have the same asking price.

Sorry - No side shots. I'd guess the 2nd one is probably $1000 cheaper. We had't priced them out yet.

The papers for the -71 are blank? Are there any receipts or anything with its serial number proving its sale with that box? If not - blank papers aren't really worth much IMO, and that watch is perhaps $5 or $5.5k

The -76, with properly stamped papers, is worth maybe the same.

I think you may have it backwards. If I understand correctly, he said the first one from -71 has punched papers, i.e. with the serial number, but not stamped by the seller. And the second one from -76 has nothing with the serial number.

Side shots are important to judge the condition of the case.

@abrod520 @Dan The -71 has punch paper booklet with serial number. I greyed out the serial #. The booklet itself did not have any handwritten details, stamp, jeweler name, purchase name, or date of purchase - it's just blank. I'm assuming the jeweler just didn't fill it out, but nonetheless the booklet matches the watch.

The -76 has no papers, just the pamphlets that came with the box.

have you seen them in the metal? the lume on the 71 seems more greenish than i would expect for that vintage. that said i love the step dial and would pic that one.

I'd pick the -71 for the step dial. The condition isn't good enough to justify $7500 though.

@apsm100 he came down to $6500. $7000 with a service included.
Ultimately up to you. If we could see the case sides it would be a lot easier to determine condition. But I'd reckon you're paying an extra $1000-1500 for the box and papers.
Are the box and clippings meaningful to you? Are you buying to resell later or are you going to keep it for the foreseeable future?

I think the step dial is washed. My valuations with bracelet match @abrod520 values for the most part.

$6500 with the bracelet and full set would be ok if the condition is really good. We would need to get a better look at the lume on the dial and the condition of the case, which must be from the sides. I think the case may be ok, but you should get photos to be sure. I don't think you'd want to pay top dollar and then find out that the lugs are soft.

Doesn't look washed to me. Increasing saturation can see the greenish lume.

If it’s got good lume the price is not horrible. I knocked it down due a washed dial. The flat link is average and has a decent amount of stretch.

the 2nd one (-76?) hand the hands removed hamfistedly and lost paint on the center post and the sub seconds. The 1161/633 looks good and period correct.

If the price is about the same I would go without hesitation on the 144.022-71 (first one).
It looks better as the dial (not washed to my eyes) and hands are nice as well as the case and bezel.
There's also à nice 1039 bracelet which is very valuable. The set seems even more complete with the -71 so it's a go for me 👍. But as already said, I, would ask more photos to be sure.

71 step dial reference did have different lume mixes over its production period, below is a July 71 with lovely yellow lume and 90's bezel (I just sold for £3750 watch head only freshly serviced) and bottom is a April 74 but still 145.022 71T reference with mint green lume.

I read somewhere it was just a different mix of lume materials..

Yes a greenish lume on a -71 is fine. A mentioned above both yellow and green lume are seen on this reference.
My pick would be the -71 too. Looks very attractive and in fine condition. The bracelet clasp has been polished some, so the watch case could be as well.

As far as I know these didn't use punch paper - the serial number was handwritten just like every other detail. So I'd be a bit wary of the booklet not being original to the watch in any case. However, I think it's not badly priced given the bracelet and the otherwise full set
