hello to all 😀
I’m looking at this beautiful gold longines with central seconds, 35 mm . Some light spots on the dial, I guess dial it’s original?
No chance to open the case of the watch as the seller don’t have proper tools and don’t want to damage the case. What are your thoughts about the watch? Year, caliber , it’s all original?
Thanks

Firstly, the dial is original. Secondly, the hands appear correct too. The second hand is characteristic of the mid-1940's to early 1950's. Thirdly, the case is quite intriguing and I would want to see the inside of the case-back to learn more (e.g. composition, origin). I imagine that the caliber is some variation of the 27M. The logo on the dial suggests that the watch is from the early to mid-1950's.

I will try my best to get pics of the inner case and caliber, I believe the case must be original due to the spyder lugs , what do you think ? The seller wants to trade it for the attached watch plus some cash (400€). I love the watch but the spots on the dial are not the ones makes me think about it. What are your thoughts?

I wonder if the case was produced in Switzerland. I think that it is likely to be original to the watch but it may not have a Longines reference number, which matters to some. As for trading that Conquest, I would be reluctant. It is a nice example of a classic Longines.

Thanks again. I spoke with the seller and he will try to go to a proper watchmaker and have the watch open to make some pics.
You think that the conquest has more value than the owner one, the true is that the Conquest even do is gold capped it’s in mint condition and the other not due to the dial spots

I would expect a karat gold Swiss case to be hallmarked on the back of a lug or side of the case or both.

Thanks for the tip. I search but I can find a similar watch, I have the feeling that this case doesn’t match the dial/caliber

Finally it’s open
No reference number on the inner case
Just longines and 18k gold marking
Watch reference on the caliber shows it’s from 1948/49 so the logo under longines on the dial is correct ?

Shape ok, but color? What happened to the hands? Are they rusted, tarnished, or painted? On some pics it seems they are blued. But then there shouldn't be some gold color... Personally, I would expect gold hands.

From this add on longines page it seems that 1949 they had logo like this watch

On this pic, they look just heavily tarnished.

But this is a minimal defect in a wonderful watch

I agree.
Imho the watch would look even more wonderful with gold hands. If possible, I would get them refurbished.

So you think that the hands are gold and with the time got some rust or some .... whatever that changes the color ?
About the logo? It’s ok as it is?
Thanks
