Hello everyone, I found this vintage omega listed on FM, I don’t know much about it, seller says it’s from 1947 and that it hasn’t been redialed nor polished. It’s listed at about 700 usd. Do you think it could be a redial, are there any things I should look and what are your overall thoughts on the watch and the price? All your help would be very much appreciated!!!

I searched for the same reference, but I didn’t find one that was identical to the one I posted, I know the movement is original, but, since I couldn't find another one, I thought it would be wise to ask here.

Looks like a redial to me (not an expert). The logo and the OMEGA text look weird. Below are the four closest examples I could find by quickly googling the case reference number:

- https://pascalkarpwatchesexpertise....2-jumbo-38-mm-1948-ref-2256-1-cal-30t2sc-1948
- https://www.shucktheoyster.com/portfolio/omega-vintage-calatrava-2256-1/
- https://e-v-w.com/products/omega-oversize-jumbo-cal-28330t2-ref-2256-vintage-1947-fully-serviced

You can see that the text and logo are consistent among those examples and how different it looks from the watch you posted.

Eh…I’m not convinced it’s a redial. I’ll give you that it’s not the crispest “Omega” text but would need better photos of the OP watch’s dial to get a better understanding. When I inherited my great uncle’s watch, that the EoA states was produced in 1946, I started down the rabbit hole of late 40s omegas. From images and other members posts here on OF, I learned that there were so many variations of dials produced during that period. Logos also varied a bit as well.

Here is my uncle's from 1946 that I’m 99% sure is original as he was the original owner and had said he wasn’t aware of any work performed to the dial. Logo looks sim to the OP.

As a side note, the logo of this link below looks to be different than the other three in the links provided.
I would highly recommend the OP look not only at the same case reference but other dial examples of the late 1940’s to get a more substantial comparison to better understand if the dial is a redial or not.
