I’ll try to be brief, I recently did a favour for a family member and after telling him about my desire to find an old seamaster to wear, he replied “I have two, you can choose either one.” He has sent me photos, but I can’t find similar models on eBay etc to know which one I should have more interest in. I was told that both are keeping time, the orange one has a better case and dial, and I’m not concerned about the straps. I think they are both from the fifties, but I could be wrong, I just don’t know much about them and they are not in my possession yet. If anyone could tell me anything about them I’d be grateful.

There's no question on this choice. Take the one on the left, it's actually pretty nice with a patinated dial and gold-capped stainless case in good condition. The dial on the right was repainted by a 5 year old and the gold-filled case is damaged.

What Dan S said. The patina on the left is awesome!

Do the crown and jewel on the one on the left (tropical? Champagne?)look original? I know I don’t have the best photos yet, yeah I always thought the lume looked really weird on the white but I thought the honeycomb dial may be a rare thing.

I'm not sure what you mean by "the jewel." That bowler hat crown is plausibly original to me, although there are some other members who will know better. It would be easier to research if you knew the reference number of the watch, which will be inside the case-back.

While I would choose the orange dial on the left every time, this picture explains why we see so many redials like those on the right.

Patina is nice, but most non-watch collectors consider it damage to be repaired.

Take the left watch, and put it on a nice quality leather strap 👎

Take the advice of Horace Greeley.

"Go left young man!"

It’s really a no brainer. The aged patina watch or one that was dial marked in crayon. I’m going a hard left.

you guys are tough. Any parent would be proud to stick the kindergarten art class project on the right to their refrigerator for a couple years until their kid's skills improve and there are better drawings to display.
