Hello everyone! I hope you’re all having a wonderful morning/evening/night.

I am new to the Forum and this is my first post on this forum that I’m quite excited to become a part of.

I really just want help to see if a watch I’m excited about is real or not, and I figured who could be better to ask.
All I know is that the advertiser says it’s a 1Authentic 1957 Omega Seamaster with The Wolf watch winder.

I really appreciate your Thoughts? and is it Worth the buy?

Looks authentic and promising, but the pictures are bad. Is it worth it? Depends on the price, and you need better pictures. But could be a very nice piece.👍

Based on the rather bad photos it looks legit. You can find other examples when you search the forum for “tuxedo dial” or “striped dial”. The be completely sure about the originality of dial and to better assess the value of the watch I would ask for better pictures and a movement shot.. 👍

The watch in which you’re interested looks promising, and similar in some respects, to my 1959 Seamaster. However, it would be helpful to know which movement it has (mine is a 591) and to provide better photos, including photos of the movement and an indication of the seller’s details and price. For your information, this was £400 at the beginning of 2019.

Not for a gold plated watch where the plating has worn off of the lug at 2 o clock.

Hello @timseyeon and welcome to the forum! The first thing to do is to read these threads:
https://omegaforums.net/threads/learn-how-to-fish.52603/
https://omegaforums.net/threads/condition-condition-condition-and-other-pieces-of-advice.1716/

The next thing to do is scrutinize the pictures: Has the plating worn off the lug (red circle) or is that just a reflection? You need much better pictures of the entire watch - in-focus and evenly lit (outdoor shaded daylight often works well) - before you go any further.

See that wide gap between "Swiss" and "Made" (green circle)? That is sometimes an indication the watch has been partially repainted (redialed). Vintage watch collectors hate redials. 👎 So the next step is to judge the font type and location of the other text on the dial, including the minute markers. The pictures are too fuzzy to say for sure, but the other fonts don't look quite right to me either. Again, you need much better pictures.

You will also need pictures of the movement and inside caseback before parting with your cash, but I think there are enough questions raised that you need to resolve those before proceeding further.

The winder looks as worn as the watch

I think there are better vintage examples out there if you are patient. I wouldn’t buy anything with the quality of those photographs. My .02

With such photos I wouldn't even consider any watch unless it sells for the price of a few lunches. CAD 1200 buy far too many lunches.

Thanks everyone for your advice. I've requested to provide better pictures of the watch but the response from the seller was "these are the best ones that I have" so,,, I guess I'm not going with it 🙁

The pictures clearly show a very optimistic asking price. Your best to avoid on price alone.

Don't be sad, there are so many more Omegas around the corner. Often with better pictures!😗
