Help Identifying a 1930s Watch from an Old Photo

Hello dear all. I’ve been trying to identify the watch my grandfather used to wear, which can be seen in the attached photo. So far, my attempts—including using AI tools like ChatGPT—haven’t led to a definitive answer.

I know this is a challenging task, given the quality of the image, but I’d really appreciate any insights from vintage watch enthusiasts. Based on what I can tell:

• The photo was taken in the 1940s, though the watch itself could be from the 1930s or earlier.

• It has a round case with a light-colored dial (possibly white or cream).

• The strap appears to have a visible mark, rivet, or logo, which might be a key detail.

• It could be an Omega, Longines, or another brand, but I am open to any suggestions.

If anyone has knowledge about which brands had markings on their leather straps during this period, that could be a major clue! Any help or guidance would be truly appreciated.

Thank you in advance!

The strap is of absolutely no help whatsoever as watch manufacturers didn’t make straps or bracelets. That, plus over the life of a watch, the strap/bracelet would have been replaced many times.

I have posted two pictures of watches in my collection that somewhat resemble the subject watch. One is a Rolex with a black dial, and a Longines with a white dial. The Rolex is from 1915, and the Longines is mid to late 1920s.

The Rolex has wire lugs which were typical of the era. Your subject watch might have had lugs like this. Your picture is of very little help.

It appears to have at least one hand.
