Hello all,

I am new to this community and I'm not knowledgeable about vintage Omega watches. I was hoping someone would help me identify this watch, pictures are attached.

This is a local listing for my area and I may be interested in purchasing with more information. Unfortunately, these are the only two photos that are available.

Based on the condition, which isn't great, would this be a good deal if purchased under $200? Any information or guidance is very much appreciated.

For $200, it would probably be worth the gamble. I has certainly seen lots of time on the wrist. I would ask for a photo of the movement and caseback.

 

I would save up for a better example.

 

+150 bucks for service, don't forget that.

 

Interesting. I never considered a servicing fee, thanks. I just asked for more photos.

 

I doubt anyone's opinion will change. I wouldn't waste yours or the seller's time.

 

Are we assuming this is gold-filled? Because it it's solid gold, it's definitely worth $200. And who knows, it might clean up ok.

Well, mostly likely it's filled since the asking price seems very low for a gold watch. However, we have all seen situations where the seller just assumes it's gold-filled and isn't able to open the case to check.

 

If its filled then it isn't a Swiss case, they have steel backs but it could be local of course, some of those are filled but gold all round.

 

I doubt it's filled, actually. I can't imagine, in the 50s, getting a gold-filled watch for 23 years of loyal service.

 

In which case $200 is cheap.

 

So the proverbial gold watch was color, not metal? How disappointing.
