Help identify Omega Deville cushion case (no back!)

Hi all—I snagged this from across the Atlantic on EBay. I thought it was a great blurry photo find of a 166.053 (wishful thinking after reading https://stories.omegaforums.net/buying-an-omega-for-less-than-a-moonswatch/).

Any idea what the model number is? The dial and dimensions are correct other than the fact it is more pebble-like and is missing a caseback. The plating is a bit uneven and it has some pitting on the back.

The case is all one piece (looks like movement installed through the dial side). I haven’t encountered a watch like this before so not sure how to take it apart!

Your case has had some incredible polishing done to it, possibly re-plated as well.

Or you could hope that it's just a badly polished BA 166.0053

The case is a monocoque/unishell style and the watch can only be opened using Omega Tool 108 to remove the crystal.

Ah! Thank you for your read. I took another look at the article I posted and see now that the 166.0053 has the “mono” case design as well. A polished-down version of this model seems plausible.

It’s interesting that the dial is so well preserved while the case has been smoothed down. A testament to the engineering! At least she has a story and still wears beautifully.
