    Hello community,
I hope you are all enjoying your summer.
I just came upon this Omega Constellation and I’d love for you to first enjoy it, and maybe tell me more about it.

It’s a 14393-10-SC Pie Pan with Arabic markers and the date a 3 o’clock. And that’s the main issue for me because I cannot find this configuration anywhere. The case is plated yellow gold and steel.

Overall the watch is in very good condition but for the case back as I feel it was over polished and now the central plated stamp is starting to detached itself from the case back. Do you think it’s fixable ?

I also need to find more information to fix the crown as I don’t feel it’s an original.

Anyway, enjoy the pics and let me know what you think !

    thanks
    Pierre

    Hi Pierre,

the configuration with the numerals is completely legit. Try googling "Omega 14393 arabic numerals". You'll find more examples, it's not too uncommon.

The crown is an incorrect replacement, as you noted. Correct would be either a thin scalloped or a thin decagonal crown (gold-plated, of course).

Regarding condition, I'd say this is a rather poor example. Significant patina on the dial (if you want to call it patina...), incorrect second hand, polished case and even more so caseback. The "central plated stamp" isnt actually plated, but a medallion in solid gold, which used to show 8 stars. There are zero left visible on this example. Finding a good replacement medallion will be as-near-as-makes-no-difference impossible, I'm afraid. A replacement case could be an option, but they are a) not easy to find, and b) will also easily set you back 400-500€+, at which point you still have a damaged dial, havent replaced the crown or the second hand, and who knows in what condition the movement is. The cheap replacement solutions the watch shows dont exactly make me hopeful for the state of the cal. 561 inside.

If you havent bought it yet, I'd say keep on hunting. You'll find much, much nicer examples out there and the 14393 are still a comparably affordable reference, especially vs. the 60s dogleg references and the 50s Constellations.

    Hi Pierre,

Defo the crown is not original, and I've got a doubt about the second hand as well but it's best to wait for somebody else to confirm or not as I am not an expert.

The case back medallion has lost its stars, that's a no no for me, but it might no matter for you!

Big scratch on the case and lug a 1-2 o clock, which you probably know about but it's easy to miss the obvious sometimes!

The medallion is not the correct one for this watch. A gold capped Ref. 14393 would not have brickwork on the medallion.

I’m seeing more of these incorrect medallions in the last few months.

    Well-spotted, sir. I must’ve stopped looking when I realized the medallion showed a rather cloudy night… :D

Thanks a lot ! Well I guess I need to find a new médaillon and second hand. Wish me luck.
