Strap Ideas for Vintage Omega Constellation Pie Pan

Wife just call me out on using a Vintage Omega with a Lizzrd Strap during the day.
Any Ideas on how to make either of them more casual (The gold dial I don’t know if it’s possible)

Attached pics of dials and models.

  • 14.381 white silver pie pan. Gold Case
  • 168.010 gold pie pan dial onix markers

Any advise welcome. If you have pics or a link to the strap better!

Ps. I am keeping the lizards. But want options for each!

This is a horween shell cordovan strap custom made by @jankoxxx in a simple design, it’s the softest and most flexible leather I’ve had in a strap, and I think does a decent job of avoiding the old-man look on an all gold watch.

I bought both this black one and a brown one off him a few years apart, far better quality than anything off the shelf and quite a reasonable price too.

First of all, both watches and straps look fine - so perhaps consider changing the wife rather than the straps.

Failing that, try a finer lizard in black or a very plain black strap.

Gold watches are always going to look a little ‘bling’, so you can only dress them down so far.

Third option (if you’re intent on keeping the wife) get her to buy you a couple of SS Constellations for day-wear.

Gold on plain black.

First of all. It’s not a casual watch, so hard to tone down gold.

Black makes it stand out more as it frames the watch and highlights the gold

Best bet for casual. Simple smooth finish chocolate or slightly darker brown leather with matching stitching

I put mine on a black leather strap with a touch of texture. Maybe something like this but brown?

Yes I know the crystal isn’t the right one. Just got it recently and haven’t had time to source the correct one for this model. And yes I know the second hand is too short. I will be looking for one as well. Price was good.

I have mine on a relatively casual brown leather strap with contrasting stitching, it’s not the 100% formal that a dark lizard strap would be, but still allows it to be worn casually and formally, in my opinion anyway

No you are correct, this dresses it down.

Just saw on Reddit Omega a beautiful yellow gold 1960’s Constellation on a tan suede strap and it looked a bit more casual than lozard, but luxurious and rich.

Get one of those rough suede straps with the stiches at the lug area.
That'll be casual enough.

Gold paired with a dark green gator strap would be my recommendation.

That is very interesting...The green strap must be picking up some of the oxidized copper in the gold alloy. It really does work!

Gold and green definitely work together, this with an Eterna Matic 1000 for illustration purposes.

This is what I usually wear my gold Connie on. If it was super formal, I’d switch to a darker brown or black strap. Honestly, I hate the look of it on black strap.

With my gold Connies I usually use a very dark brown alligator strap. It’s a very nice strap, but it certainly isn’t flashy.

Great choice, but this definitely does not dress is down 😀
